Katniss loved Peeta from the very start, right there in the cave her love for him bloomed from her heart as real and pure as a white rose. They survived the Games together and their love continued blooming when they came back home. When the Quater Quell came it was cancelled because of Katniss being pregnant (like actually) and they continued to live their lives together in district twelve. Although the rebellion did not rise nor did the mockingjay exist. During the time of which Katniss should have been the mockingjay she was too busy raising her child. Gail stayed by her side as her best friend and Peeta worked at the bakery and also sold his art at the hob.
