“Morgan, hurry up or I’m leaving you behind!” My brother Noel yells from downstairs. Even though he’s a year younger than me, he acts like I’m younger than him. Mostly when it comes to boys.
“Just hold on!” I yell back and finish straightening my hair. I stand in front of a full length mirror. I’m wearing a short black skirt, a simple white tank top, converse with my blonde hair straightened. I must admit, I look pretty darn cute.
“Morgan!” He yells again, I roll my eyes at my reflection before making my way downstairs, taking two steps at a time. As soon as he sees me he grabs my car keys and walks out the door. I follow him to the driveway.
“You know, if you drive there then you have to drive back.” I tell him. “So, no drinking. At all.”
“Ugh. Fine.” He agrees. We were going to one of my friends house parties and I was excited. They are always so much fun.
When we get there the music is super loud and the house is packed. It’s a pretty big house, it even has a pool. I wander around till I find a kitchen and spot someone passing out drinks from behind a counter. I walk over to the counter and lean part way over, towards the guy.
“Hey!” I smile, twisting a piece of my hair.
“Hey there, what can I get for you?” He asks while leaning toward me.
“Um, just a beer I guess.” I bite my lip.
“Coming right up.” He turns and grabs me one. “Here you go.” He passes it to me and before I turn to go, he grabs my wrist. “Maybe later we can,”
“Sorry bud, she’s not interested.” Leah interrupts him. Leah is my best friend; she is medium height, slim with long dark red hair and blue eyes. She hooks her arm with mine and steers me out of the kitchen.
“Jeez Morgan, do you have to flirt with every guy you see?” I do flirt a lot but I can’t help it, it just comes naturally to me.
“I’m sorry, it’s,”
“Just who you are.” She finishes my sentence with me. “I know.” She smiles suddenly. “Let’s go dance.”
“Okay.” And just like that were in the crowed of people dancing in the living room. Swaying with the music and slapping away any wondering hands. It feels good just to take a break and not care. I only took a break from dancing to get another drink.
For most of the night I either danced or went to different groups of people and talked. Around midnight the party wasn’t in full swing anymore but there still are a lot of people left. I leave the house to sit out on the back deck. The deck overlooks the whole backyard.
Leah walks through the door with some other friends in tow. Everyone forms a big circle and starts talking away. Leah passes me another drink and we fall into a conversation easily. Until someone yells:
“Let’s play truth or dare!” We all agree. “Okay I’ll start!” The girl exclaims.
“Kara, truth or dare?”
“Um, truth!” Kara decides.
“Okay. When did you have your first kiss?” She asks her.
“When I was 14 after a movie date.”She pauses. “Leah, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Have you ever gone skinny dipping?” Kara asks.
“No way!” Leah exclaims, and then laughs. “Morgan! Truth or dare?”
“Dare!” Truth’s are boring and I felt like doing something.
“I dare you to go up to Carter and kiss him.” She points at Carter in the backyard and giggles. Carter is one of the most popular guys at our school, he plays football and basket ball and he is super good looking.
I stand up and walk toward him and his friends. Carter is tall and muscular with messy dark hair and blue-green eyes. He is hot. When I get to him, I rest one hand on his arm until he turns to look at me. As soon as he does, I stand on my tippy toes and kiss him.
What surprises me most is that he kisses me back, making it deeper. He places his hands gently on my waist and I press mine to his chest. His friends start cheering and I hear some of them yelling for us to get a room. I pull away from him and bite my lip out of habit.
“Sorry about that.” I say then turn and walk back to my friends. When I get there they all start talking at once.
“Oh my gosh!”
“I can’t believe you actually did that!”
“You are so lucky!
And it goes on, I don’t even really hear what there all saying. Leah seems to be the only normal one because she looks at me with a smirk on her face and says,
“I said a kiss, not a make-out session.”
