And then, Dumbledore's interest is piqued. He takes notes and stows them in a drawer. And that's how Mcgonagall, ruined after his death, opened a drawer at random, and found the calculator notes. The year after the Golden Trio left Hogwarts, calculators became standard. However, many pranksters soon figured out ways to program calculators' buttons to fly out when pressed, to always give you an 'Error,' and more.
