And then everything moved at once.

The strings tightened their grip, making the entire universe glitch. You felt your own soul being drawn from your body as Error put his arm around your waist, pulling you close. So much color whizzed around you so fast that you couldn't see Flowey. But then green, spiked vines came shooting in every direction, some getting close, some so far away they were just a sliver of green in the distance. You felt like putting your hands on your head and screaming.

Then, suddenly, your soul was tugged on violently. It hurt horribly, reminding you with despair of when you had negative HP.  Everything was so blurry and unfocused that you couldn't tell what was happening. What had grabbed onto your soul? At first, you thought it was Flowey, one of his vines finally aimed at the target. But when you looked up at the f/c soul, it was covered in blue strings.

Error.

Memories of the last time this happened flooded in, and you shook your head to get rid of them. Error was your friend now. More than that. And you would trust him with your life.

Hopefully you wouldn't regret that choice.

Because the next thing you knew, the familiar feeling was flinging you around as you writhed in pain. Error obviously didn't want to do this, because when you looked down at him, he was avoiding your gaze and shaking. There was something in the back of your mind that you couldn't wrap yourself around, but you didn't have time to try as you were once again thrown in one direction. Everything was blurry and painful, the nausea deepening.

And then you saw it.

In the back of your mind, a little flicker of f/c was growing into a flame. You thought it was a presence from your soul, some kind of power...

But then it changed.

As the flame danced in your mind, the colors shifted, becoming darker, thicker. And the fire in your mind was no longer f/c. Now it was red. Not the soft red of a flame but the deep, thick red of blood. And the flame continued to grow until you thought that it would devour your mind whole.

Then out of the flame stepped a child with pale skin and rosy cheeks. Their smile was a genuine smile, their eyes only a fraction lighter than the flames around them. Their shirt was striped green and yellow, their hair falling a little short of their shoulders. And they reached a hand out to you.

For a moment, you reached to grab it. To hold their hand and leave the fight around you behind.    But that meant leaving Error, something you could never do. Leave him all alone, after the things he clearly has already witnessed? You don't need to ask him to know he'd gone through something awful. And at this thought, your hand wavered. In a clear, crisp voice, the child said,

"What are you waiting for? I can give you what you always wanted! To be accepted."

"I...I don't know if I can trust you..."

"Error will die if you don't take my hand. He called me here to help you! No one can defeat Flowey in his own universe. Not alone, anyway. But with your soul, Error can defeat the one glitch he never managed to! Of course, that would include you dying. No resetting. But with my help, We can prevent you from dying. You can help and stay alive. Doesn't that sound t]like the perfect plan?"

"Wha-what's in it for you...?'

"Nothing. Just some company."

Your hand stayed where it was before you decided that anything to help Error was any risk you were willing to take. Besides, this child was so friendly.

As your hand met with the child's, a thought occurred to you. As everything changed around you, you asked a final question.

"What's your name?"

"Me? Why, I'm Chara."

HAHA! I'M NOT DEAD! You thought I was but I'M NOT! (Seriously though sorry for being so inactive. This will all come to an end soon, so stay tuned for my badly panned updates!)
