Noah left immediately after they finished the roller coaster. "Sorry guys. Still have something to shoot. It was nice meeting you two." He said.
He went back on the set and they shot a few more scenes. Afterwards, Hazel took his arm and dragged him to a table. "Hey I need to tell you something!" She said, very excited.
"What is it?" Noah asked. "So I've been talking to this guy I met on the internet lately.. and I'm meeting him in person tomorrow!!" She said.
It took Noah a while to process this. "Wait, so you've been talking to someone on through the net, and you haven't even told me??" He said, thinking that as her close friend, he should have known by now
Hazel rubbed the back of her neck. "Yeah sorry about that. I just forgot I guess.." Noah was left speechless. He froze on the spot. "Well, I'm happy for you then." He said, and he left without saying more.
Hazel watched him walk away, frowning. I'm happy for you then. She didn't know what she wanted him to say, but she expected more than just that.
Meanwhile, Noah took a deep breath. He felt a lump in throat, and he couldn't manage to speak. I just forgot I guess.. She forgot.. she forgot.. What a shallow excuse. If she was so excited about it, then how could she just forget to tell him?
He felt like part of his heart ached. To him, it didn't seem like a heartache that love caused. He just felt betrayed. He felt that Hazel's internet friend mattered to her more than he did. He felt like maybe, this wasn't the only thing she kept from him.
To some, it might seem like he was overthinking, or overreacting. But he wasn't. Hazel's his best friend and for her to keep something this big from him was like being stabbed in the heart with a knife.
So as he walked into the apartment where he stayed in for the meantime, he assesed the situation. Did he like Hazel? Was it rational for him to get this affected over somthing simple? "Maybe I do.." noah told himself. "Maybe this is my first heartbreak.." But insted of frowning, instead of whining, he smiled. He had a second option.
