Jacks Pov.I fell down the stairs and was taken to the hospital. I heard people yelling my name, I heard Mark... He was... Crying. I saw flashing lights above me, then darkness.
Just... Darkness.
I was still awake though. My eyes were wide open. I looked down at my hands and I wasn't hurt or anything, could've sworn I cut myself earlier.
I looked up and I'm just surrounded by black. Misty fog gathered all around me, I couldn't see a thing. It was dead silent. Like someone had taken the audio away from a movie or video.
I opened my mouth to say something but I didn't hear any noise. I touched my throat and yelled... Well tried. I didn't hear anything.
I backed up expecting a wall or something to be behind me but there wasn't anything. I stumbled to the ground.
I yelled out again. I tried to make a sound. I tried everything. I hit the ground expecting pain and a smacking noise... but there was nothing. I didn't hear - didn't feel - anything.
I squeezed my eyes shut and screamed.
Suddenly there was an ear piercing long beep.
I froze.
I listened.
It was all I could hear. Just a long, high pitch beep.
Like a flatline.
"What?" I jumped at the sound of my voice. I scrambled to my feat and took a deep breath.
"Hello." I said testing the sound. My voice sounded hoarse. Like I hadn't used it in weeks. What's happening?
I looked around again. Still nothing but a black void and clumps of mist.
"Jack." A soft calm voice spoke out of no where.
I jerked around and saw Mark. But he looked different.
His hair wasn't a vibrant red anymore, it was washed out. His shoulders sloped. His hands were red, stained with... Blood? But his eyes. Oh, his eyes. It broke my heart. His once full brown eyes were now dull and lifeless. Dark circles surrounded the under sides of his eyes. He seemed to have held all the sadness, heart ache, and anger in the world.
He was looking down and off to the side. I stepped forward.
"Mark!" I cried out and tried to hug him but I passed right through him. I stumbled and re-gained my balance. I turned around and he wasn't facing me. I walked around and looked at him again.
"M-Mark." I stuttered and reached out for him but my hand passed through him again. I yanked my hand away and held it to my chest.
"No. How?" I whispered and felt the tears sting at the corner of my eyes.
"Jack, I'm sorry." He spoke, his own tears now spilling. I looked up at him on surprise.
"What? Mark h-"
"It's all my fault. I could've done something. I should have done something." He said and put his hands on his head.
"Mark it's not your fault." I said. He didn't hear me... Or something. He just didn't acknowledge my presence.
"Jack, I need you to stay. You can not leave me. You have to be strong. You have to fight. I need you." He said sternly but his voice wavered threatening to break at any moment.
"I'm not going anywhere. You hear me?" I said and took a step towards him. He had his head lowered and tears were falling to the floor.
"Mark." I said his name again, he didn't move.
