Kyle sat up on the sofa, staring blankly at the tv screen. He didn't know why he was still up, but the thought of going to sleep wasn't appealing.

The motion light blinked outside, indicating that somebody was on his porch. He quickly sat up and ran to the window, watching as a boy in a hood left something at the door, and ran off.

He ran to the door, throwing is open to see what the boy had left. It was a journal that looked as if it would fall apart at any second. The spine was held together by a piece of duct tape, and pages were sticking out in every direction.

Slowly he opened it up, recognizing the sloppy handwriting. Each page were diary entries from Dan, some even about Kyle himself. He flipped through the pages, skimming each one.

But that was until he got to the final page which had today's date. He read it carefully, his heart beginning to beat faster and faster until it felt like he could have a heart attack any second.

Without second thought he called the police, sprinting out of his house and to the school. Despite it being the early morning hours serval cars almost ran over him, but his own safety wasn't at the top of his list.

Once he reached the middle school he quickly used the staircase to the top, knowing it would be where Dan is. The two had once spent the night on the rooftop, and watched as the sun came through the clouds in the morning.

Once he had reached the top, his mouth fell open and he rushed over to Dan.

"Stop!" He shouted, and watched as Dan brought the lighter to the hem of his shirt. Immediately the shirt went up in flames, engulfing his small body.

"Dan!" He shouted, and ran over to the body laying on the cement roof, the flames flickering in the dark.

It scared him to see how unresponsive the boy had become, the pain unimaginable.

Each second the flames seemed to spread, his jeans now ablaze. He sprinted to the body, and tried smothering the fire. He managed to put out the fire, burning his own hands in the process.

Kyle sighed in relief as he once more see Dan's charred body, the flames dying.

He couldn't even look at the sight. The clothes on his chest had been completely burned off, his pink charred skin exposed. The black skinny jeans were nearly gone as well, only shreds still intact.

But the sight that hurt Kyle the most was Dan's face. He laid on the cement motionless, his eyes starring blankly up to the sky. His right eye was now all a milky white-blue color. The black pupil completely gone. He could tell that Dan if he survived would be blind in that eye. The skin on the ride side of his face was red and oozing liquid. The sight making him sick to his stomach.

He sighed in relief as the sirens got closer, two policemen now on the roof. He watched as they tended to him. After a few minutes they carefully lowered him to the ground and drove the ambulance away.
