At that time Hide was working for the CCG as a delivery boy. He got involved in their investigations after mentioning Kaneki Ken was his friend but, was actually using the CCG to find Kaneki's whereabouts so he could bring him home after his disappearance.

While everyone was fighting the owl Hide went in search for Ken, after that he told him everything he knew that K was a ghoul
He accepted him for what he was but then the next chap, Hide was already gone.

After that he came to his senses and tasted blood on his mouth and because of that everyone thought that he ate Hide in his kakuja form.

So this is where the story diverges,
Hide goes missing in the manga
And Hideyoshi collapses because of blood lost any you guys all know that right?😟

So any do; the anime doesn't follow the manga so it can still change. So not the complete cannon

How come Hideyoshi was registered missing while Amon and Takizawa were presumably dead even though their bodies have never been seen No sense right?

Why did Ishida sensei do that?

This lead me to believe that there might be more behind Hide's disappearance and the fact that K ate him may not be true despite the strong indications we get from the manga.

TG:re and Hide
In :re there was no mention of H and K the manga starts with the ghoul investigator Sasaki Haise who works with the Qs
Who is in fact K, he doesn't know anything about his past

The only clue he got for his b day in TG: re 31.5 he got a book Takatsuki Sen ; the hanged man Macguffin

That was signed to:Ken Kaneki

It is not known who sent the book but there is one theory, that it was H is the one who sent it therefore he is alive.
Despite the small amount of appearances H is one of the most important characters in TG: re especially when it comes to Kaneki and his mental issues.

Hide plays is just to big and he always appears that ends up k bringing to reason. Also note that he appears only in crucial moments, when Kaneki is about to break down or is mentally unstable. After that the story takes an unexpected course which lead to Kaneki being the one eyed king.
