*"Baek, have you thought of coming back home?" Chanyeol asked, breathing in the night breeze. Everything was so peaceful and it was like they own the forest as it was just them under the billion stars in the middle of nowhere.
"If i have to be honest, yes. It crossed my mind. I asked myself, what if i come back? Will everything go well? Will i make everything better after leaving my wedding?" Baekhyun truthfully said, leaning back on the car to look at the starry night sky.
They were currently sitting peacefully on the hood of Chanyeol's car, sharing two bottles of soju that Chanyeol was keeping in his trunk. For situations like this but it wasn't planned to spend it with a run away groom he saw outside the church.
"Then why don't you come back?" The giant asked, taking a swig from his bottle. "I... I'm a-afraid." Baekhyun admitted, letting out a sigh. "Of the consequences of your run away?" Chanyeol questioned, setting his eyes on the latter. "Yeah." He couldn't grasp the truth, the consequences of his decision. He knew that his 'run away' had caused great damage to his family aswell as his bride's family.
"The damage has been done, Baekhyun. You can't take back anything now. All you can do is stand your ground and prove that your decision's right, maybe not for them but for you."
The silence was comforting to Baekhyun but he found Chanyeol's words and voice more comforting.
He couldn't help but to smile at the latter. As for the mean time, Chanyeol was the only person he could count on, the only person that could understand his situation right now.
"Thank you Chanyeol." He muttered as he took a sip from his bottle. He was indeed abit tipsy but his words of gratitude were sincere.
"For what?" The tall boy asked, his eyebrow raised at the sudden words of Baekhyun. "For everything. For helping me from the beginning and upto now. You could've left me before but you helped me and i'm so thankful for that." Chanyeol didn't noticed the soft smile that was painted on his lips as he heard Baekhyun's words.
"You're welcome." He shortly said and gulped down the remaining contents of his bottle. "What about you Chanyeol? Why did you run away from home?" Baekhyun took the opportunity to ask Chanyeol the question that lingered on his mind ever since he met the runaway boy. He couldn't just be simply running away for nothing.
"I just want to escape from my problems. It maybe a coward move but sometimes it's just tiring to hear their shouts and painful words that blame each other for both mistakes. I just want peace for awhile."
Baekhyun was abit surprised that Chanyeol had opened up to him. He expected Chanyeol to shook off the topic or rather change the topic but now he's opening up to him that made Baekhyun to be relieved.
"Running away is not a coward move. It's just simply an act of taking a break and taking the time to breath and think." Their thoughts were in sync. They understand each other, both sides have a different story but their emotions were identical, almost the same.
"We were a simple and happy family. You could say our family was full of love and passion for each other. My mother was a secretary in a company and my father owned a small restaurant alongside with my older sister who helped him manage it." By this time, Chanyeol was smiling to himself as he pictured out his family, "We were almost perfect but sometimes perfect leads to worse than imperfection." A woeful sigh slipped his lips. Baekhyun had his eyebrows knitted, listening intently to Chanyeol.
"My father had a gambling problem, at first he was only gambling from time to time but then it got out of control to the extent that he used up all the money in our bank account, leaving us with an empty hand. My father was so busy with gambling that our restaurant had gone bankrupt. My mother was so devastated with this so she filed a divorce with my father. But my father disagreed with it. Later, we found out that my mother was having an affair with her boss that's why she wanted a divorce." He breathed out first before continuing, "They would always argue blaming each other for what happened to our family but they didn't notice that they were the reason why our family was slowly losing the bond and love we once had."
Finally, the pages of his book were opened and he let the sorrows of his heart to be expressed even just once for a while.
A deafening silence aroused around them, just the their steady breathing could be heard. It was a comfortable one, atleast for Chanyeol but Baekhyun on the other hand was struggling in what to say. He wanted to comfort the latter but he didn't know how.
"I-i'm sorry Chanyeol." Was all he could muster up to say, he wasn't looking at Chanyeol hence he was just staring out the space. A weak smile was all what Chanyeol could respond, he knew that Baekhyun was only trying to comfort him even if it's abit awkward to do so.
"You know... i actually like your presence now." Chanyeol joked around, trying to bring up the mood that was a bit down after their talk of their own problems. "Well, you already liked it from the start." The midget smugly replied, rolling his eyes at Chanyeol.
"I'm just trying to get used to it since i think you'll not be returning to your home any sooner." At this moment, Chanyeol was laughing as he continued messing around with the small guy. "Yah! Park Chanyeol!" Baekhyun glared playfully and smacked Chanyeol's shoulder lightly.
"Shhh. You're being loud." Chanyeol covered his mouth as a smile was plastered on his face. Baekhyun couldn't prevent himself to look at his eyes that were pulling in him. They were a pair of dark orbs, filled with emotions.
Just maybe, just maybe those eyes could pull him in deeper and one day he'll find himself drowning until he couldn't resurface, he'll drown in them and he'll be unable to save himself anymore.
"What are you looking at?" Chanyeol asked as he retrieved his hand from the midget's mouth. "O-oh nothing," Baekhyun stuttered, avoiding any eye contact.
"Maybe we should go, it's getting a bit late." Baekhyun snapped out of his thoughts as he heard Chanyeol.
The giant first got off the hood of the car and he was walking wobbly with the influence of alcohol in his system. His sight was doubling and he was not in the right mind. Baekhyun shook his head at the giant, "Such a clumsy head." He muttered and also got off the hood but unfortunately slipping and ended up pushing Chanyeol on the ground, resulting with the giant laying on the ground while he sat on his stomach.
"Damn Baekhyun. Get off of me! You're so heavy!"
Such ironic romance.
