Chapter 1

"Bye McKenna, I'll miss you!"
"Yeah whatever," my complete brat of a 13 year old sister answered.
"Bye Mom," I wrapped my mother in a tight goodbye hug. It would be a long time before I saw my family again, if I ever came back.
"Bye sweetie," she kissed my cheek. "Be safe, please." Her eyes began to tear up. Oh god. If she cries, I cry.
"Please don't cry, Mommy," I said, sniffing.
"I'm not, honey. Just allergies," she assured me.
"Now boarding for flight 2083 from Denver, Colorado to Hollywood, California," the lady on the speaker announced.
"Well, I gotta go," I hugged my sister and mother each one last time and made my way to the terminal.

The flight was exhausting. I had managed to get the seat for just under $100, but that meant I was jammed in between two smelly, old, VERY talkative elder men. Needless to say, I darted out the doors as soon as my plane made landfall.

The Hollywood airport was nice, I guess. I strolled around hauling my bags until I finally found the exit. My Aunt Tiffany said she would pick me up around 3:00, and it was already 2:45. So I just sat on my suitcase for a while until a silver Camaro pulled up in front of me. I chuckled. That was Aunt Tiff, for ya.

"HI BABY!" Tiffany wrapped me up in her arms for a tight hug, her bracelets jingling and jangling every time she moved.
"Hi Aunt Tiff," I said, smiling.
"How've you been girly?" She asked as I slid into her new-smelling car.
"Alright, I guess," I answered.
"Sweetheart, I know things have been rough back at home, but this is kinda like a new start for you, right? New people, new friends, new everything. How does that sound?" She asked me, smiling widely.
"Great," I answered. I really was excited as I contemplated her explanation. It really was like a new start, which is exactly what I needed.
