Beyoncé flicked through the mail before her eyes landed on one specific logo that caused her heart to race just a little. As she stood by the front door Arnold walked into the hallway with a bowl of cereal wearing nothing but his boxers. He liked to walk around like that. When he saw her gazing at the letter he swallowed the cereal and asked,
"What's wrong?" She hadn't been normal lately. For the past week it seemed as if she only ever thought about inflicting pain on others, she even had a wound herself from getting into a fight with the wrong person. For the past few days he had been keeping Carter up to date with everything she get's up to and how she's acting because he knew that it wasn't healthy and that was all he could think to do. Talking to Carter was very much like a parent talking to a school teacher or something, Carter was her parent who cared for her and wanted to know what she was doing and Arnold was the teacher who wanted what was best for her and observed her. Arnold was rather taken aback by the fact that Carter didn't just up and leave as soon as he found out where she was but Carter explained that things would never be the way they were unless he allowed himself time to change first and gave her some time to breath. There was no use popping up for things to be the same way there were when she left in the first place so he'd have to wait. Of course Carter never gave up on her and he asked how she was doing every day but Arnold became more and more worried about his friend and how she was impacting these people's lives. Carter felt as if he was getting back into some of his old ways that benefited their relationship, hearing about how she was acting allowed him to make psychic evaluations of her behaviours so that he could understand her better and how she's changed. Of course it was all very frightening to him but he knew that she was more scared than anything.
"It's from a school." She mumbled lowly, Arnold smirked to himself remembering that he had anonymously sent her files to the school board to see if getting a job would change her mind about all of this. "What could they want from me?" She looked up at him and he shrugged obliviously,
"Open it" He then began walking over to her and she opened the letter and read it fast. She didn't know what to expect when she opened this letter, she didn't know how she was supposed to react by seeing this letter but she knew that there was a mixture of excitement, fear and danger. "So?" Arnold asked,
"They want to offer me a job in the new school year" She looked over at him confused, "A high school, they want to improve their English department." She said the words as if she didn't believe what she had just read and then she scrunched up the letter and shook her head causing Arnold to gasp.
"Wow!" He yelled, "What are you doing? Take the offer" He told her, she turned to him and sighed.
"If I go to that interview they'll know they can't hire me" She looked down and began fiddling with her fingers, "Arny, you and I both know they won't hire me if they realise that I'm getting into fights and going around ruining people's lives. This is serious, I won't be able to just seduce someone or manipulate someone. This is a real job and I'm not eligible for it when I'm like this" She closed her eyes briefly and then looked back at him. "Put some clothes on and leave. I want to be alone" She turned away from him and began walking to her room, Arny liked to give her space when she needed it. Carter had told him that if she ever said she wanted to be alone it was because she was working through her own feelings in her head and liked to be left alone to do that so you ought to let her otherwise she becomes frustrated and could possibly throw some fruit at you which is a lot more painful that it seems. Of course Arnold didn't understand this at all but he didn't want to be hit with any fruit. He also knew that sometimes when people said they wanted to be alone, they really just needed to be cuddled and he didn't see that as his job but as Carter's and felt as if he was an intruder for even considering cuddling with her. Maybe that was Arnold's own problem, he never thought of himself as good enough.
