A Snowy Dream

The snow comes falling

Down

Down

Down

Covering the land with a white fluffy sheet

Clouds cover the sky

Making it seem as if I am in an infinite land of white

The wind blows past me as I race down the hill

I reach the bottom and look towards the ski lift

A chair on the ski lift sits still

Waiting for me to sit in it

The metal bar swings up

Beckoning me to come over

I look up the hill

There is no sign of anyone

No traffic or anyone to get in the way

But where are my friends?

I wait

listening for a sound

But there is none

There is only the sound of the wind

Blowing snow against the side of my face

I take off my skis

I begin to walk through this desolate land of white

There is a lodge up ahead

I enter the lodge though the front doors

I'm greeted by warmth

But also silence

The whole lodge is empty

Lockers are left open

Chairs are still pulled out

Food still sits on the tables half eaten

Where was everyone?

I step back outside

There is no sign of anyone anywhere

I put my skis back on

Slowly I move down a small, snow covered hill

I begin to move towards the ski lift again

The chair still silently waits

It never moved

It has been sitting and waiting the entire time

Only slightly swaying in the wind which has now picked up

The metal bar swings up once again as I approach

Even though there is no one there to touch it.

Slowly I walk over and sit down
