acrophobia: an irrational fear of heights
not an au

This was it, the day you'd been dreading since you lost the bet. You bet that he couldn't stop talking about Anakin for a day, and if he did, you were allowed to shave his beard. He bet that he could, and if he didn't, you would have to fly a ship.

You lost, to your surprise. It was midnight when the bet ended, and he lasted past the day to emphasise his victory.

Now, you weren't upset about not shaving his beard. Not even that you lost the bet. No—it was because you had to fly a ship.

Under any other circumstance, flying a ship sounds doable to people. No problem. But no, not when you have acrophobia—the fear of heights.

Why make the bet if you were afraid of heights? But wouldn't you bet that Obi Wan couldn't stop talking about Anakin for a day? You thought you would win.

"Come on, love. You lost the bet, so you know what you've got to do." Obi smirked at you, and you sighed, wringing your hands nervously.

You reluctantly made your way to where his ship was being held, him leading the way.

"Um... Obi? I'm not sure if I can do this..." You stared at the shop in horror.

"Oh, come on! A deal's a deal. You can't break it now!" He whined.

You sighed. "Okay..."

Getting into the ship was simple. You followed his instructions, preparing the ship for launch. When the ship was only a few centimetres off the ground, however, you accidentally looked down and freaked out. You dropped the controls in fear, trying desperately to land the ship.

Obi Wan grew concerned. Why were you so reluctant to fly the ship? Why would you try to land it, if you were only a few centimetres off the ground? Everything clicked into place. You were afraid of heights, and he had pressured you into confronting that fear.

"Hey, darling... y/n... y/n." When you flickered your eyes to him, he smiled slightly. "I'm going to help you, okay?"

You nodded shakily.

"Okay. Now..."

You followed his instructions, your heart practically beating out of its chest. As soon as it landed, you scrambled out of the ship and into his arms. He wrapped his arms around you soothingly, pressing a kiss to your head as you cried.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't realise that you were afraid-"

"You didn't know. It's okay, Obi. I'm okay."

He sighed, resting his head on yours. "I'm still sorry."
