Waking up in AoT

Chapter 39

Nothing was said on the ride back, knowing from Auruo that if we spoke we would probably bite our tounge. Literally.

I thought solemnly of Auruo and Petra. He's probably devastated that his favorite person in the world had died under my watch. My best friend here.

~*~ just about a week ago ~*~

"Hey [f/n], you have to promise not to tell anyone this, okay?" The Petra of my memories began.

"Okay, what is it?" I replied.

"I think I'm in love with Auruo."

I rolled my eyes. "Well, duh. I think that was pretty obvious. You both obviously care about each other a lot."

"My dad thinks I'm too young to marry, but I'm just scared. What if... Something happens to one of us? I want there to always be proof that we loved each other."

I gulped. Well, technically they shouldn't die for a few weeks.

"You should tell him soon! You're right, who knows how long we have left?"

"If I'm not mistaken, I think you do," she giggled. "But please don't tell me. I want to just live every day like it's my last. I want to try and be happy for as long as I can."

Tears began to trickle down my face. How could someone so pure and innocent die so soon?

"Hey, don't cry! It's soon, isn't it? The day I die?"

All I could do was nod and hug her tightly.

"I'll confess to him right after the battle at Trost. Should that work out?"

I nodded again and smiled through my tears into her jacket.

"Great. Oh, and [f/n]? Thanks for being such a good friend."

The flashback ended and tears pricked at my eyes. Should I be the one to tell Auruo? Or should I just leave his emotions alone?

I jumped off Jeanbo as we approached the new headquarters and halted just outside the new stable.

"Hey, where's the kid who used to take care of the horses?"

No one answered.

I knew what that meant.

And it was all my fault.
