POEM TWO

She was sun bubble baths taken at dawn,

He was morose moonshine drunk till Monday morning,

She complained when her devotedly distracting children be gone,

He dramatically read bedtime stories till kids were snoring,

She did not complain when husband told secrets to the bottle,

He slurred smiles when the kids painted him from hair to shoe lace,

She only once had to take her husbands keys from the throttle,

He refused to scream and curse at wife's pleading face,

She locked the door and laid down with John Moore,

He went to his blurred bed bleeding through bandages and beers,

She sorted her skirt and swore that time would be the last,

He swallowed a swig at wife's swing of the door to clear his dripping tears,

She tried to hold her broken marriage with that of a faulty cast.

He and She just would not speak of what came to be,

He and She contracted their faults through this deed,

They'd wait till the kids aged to either leave or see,

But till then they watch each other bleed.

POEM ONE

The sapphire light that could not be burnt did not go without struggle,

Bursting high in the sky in staccato rhythm

it shined a stars last breath of million-years of life,

It fights for each last slashing second, fights that flashing flood,

Refusing to caress death the way most flames hug peeling trees;

no need to pursue what already came as naturally as the

cracking of blistering knuckles,

Oozing puss and privilege of peace before slamming

against the concreted ideas of those manifested by the more powerful,

In the end we know who be the more resilient, the more restless.

But in truth that last defining moment, we mustn't pale,

even on the way to the morgue,

We must shine brighter than ever before,

To expand and exclaim last elementary colors to shine

against that status quo,

The illumed light knows not day or not, only defeat and repeat,

And that saphine light that could not be burnt did not go without struggle.
