Mike and Madeline had been together since March. Now Madeline was happy and scared. There was something else in the air that night that Mike picked her up for a date.
"Mattie, what's wrong?" Mike asked her, using her nickname. Madeline quickly collected herself.
"Nothing Mike. I'm perfectly fine." she lied. Mike didn't buy it.
"Come on Mattie you can tell me. What is it?" he asked. Madeline gave in.
"Mike...please don't hate me if I tell you. Please. Mike I'm pregnant...your the father." she said with tears in her eyes. This is it. No more Mike and Mattie.
"Mattie, that's wonderful. If anything it makes me love you even more." he said. With that they went on to have their date.
