"What happened?" Mark says as he sits himself up and rubs his eyes. Flinchin,  Jack turns to him and begins to walk over.

"Nothing," he mumbles to which Mark puts out his hand and stops Jack from moving forward.

"Don't lie to me," Mark says through clenched teeth.

"I was trying to protect you..." Jack fades off. He puts his hands to his face. "I don't know okay? Bob was being rude and demanding and I don't know I just acted. I don't know," Jack answers repeating himself.

"That doesn't answer my question," Jack takes a deep breath and uncovers his face.

"He was asking us what we are and when I tried to just blow it away but he became increasingly angrier and angrier until I got pissed off. I said something I regret and they all left. I'm sorry I was just trying to protect you," Mark narrows his eyes.

"What did you say?"

"I asked if he was going to beat me up too," Jack says looking down ashamed. Mark takes a deep breath and looks away from Jacks eyes.

"I think its better if you just go now," his voice is quiet.

"But I was just trying to help," Jack mumbles.

"I know but I'm tired Jackaboy. Leave me be for now," Mark says turning away fully and resting his head down on the pillows. Jack sees that he looks exhausted but at the same time hurt. Swallowing he heads for the door. He pauses just one second.

"Remember to change the bandages every few hours," then he shuts the door leaving Mark inside. Taking a deep breath he leans against the motel door. "I can't do anything," he whispers before pushing away and not taking a look back.

"Never Jack! Do you hear me?" His dad held tightly onto his shoulders, shaking his frail body. "You can't ever look back," Jack turned his head to look at his father. His face blotched and red. "Are you listening to me?" He mumbled before hanging his head and letting out a anguished cry. He dropped Jacks shoulders and shielded his head into his hands as his body shook. Placing a hand on his Dads shoulder he didn't turn back. Not when the doctors yelled or when the beeping went flat or even when it evened out again.  Jack didn't turn back.

"I won't look back Dad. I promise,"

Jack pauses as he looks at the trailer home sat among numerous overgrown bushes. It's dirty and unkept and Jack shuts his eyes trying to envision his old house. The memory is fuzzy but he knows that the house was warm and the lights worked when you flipped them on. He knows the water was clear and the smell was cinnamon not latex. Popping them open he almost thinks it'll be there when he looks but its not. Just the trailer. Walking forward he pushes open the unlocked door and braces for yelling but none comes. His aunt is gone. To the town or her job, Jack doesn't know, nor does he care. She could be splattered on the side of the road and he would just be relieved she wasn't there.

"That's pretty sick I guess," he mumbles to no one in particular. Glancing over he sees his mothers body laying on the couch. Her eyes shut and her chest moving. "You aren't my mother," he says as he flops himself onto his Aunts mattress. Sighing he covers himself up with blankets. "You know Dad would hate to see you like this. I guess he did tho," Jack laughs bitterly and shakes his head. She can't hear him and even if she can it doesn't matter because she would hate him. Laying there for a few minutes buried in the covers that smell like cheap perfume he thinks. Thinks about everything, his Dad, his mom, Mark, Bob, Wade, Robin... everyone. Then he realizes something.

"I've got no one," he says sitting up and looking straight at her body. "I've literally pushed everyone away because of some guy. Some guy that I for some reason have this stupid urge to protect. Isn't that pathetic?" Jack looks at the body. The chest still rises and the eyes stay closed. "I'm a fucking failure! Worthy of nothing!" Jacks yells as he stands up and kicks a stack of books that go flying. "And look at you! Just a sack of bricks that I'm forced to pray at! Irrumabo! Irrumabo! Irrumabo!" Jack screams as he throws a pillow at his mothers body. Its hits and then falls. His jaw is tight as he throws a glass dish at the wall. It shatters, sending shards everywhere.  He grabs for another one and holds out his arm ready to throw but catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror. His eyes crazy. His fathers mothers dish in his hands. Some of the only things left of her. Jack looks down and sees the glass pieces.

"Irrumabo," Jack whispers falling on his knees. "I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry. I can't do anything," He turns his face to the sky and shuts his eyes. Tears running down his face slowly as they squeeze from his closed eyelids. "Forgive me Dad," Then he gets up and runs.
