My mother owned a small bakery under our apartment. It was sweet and it always smelled good. I walked in quickly yelling to my mom I was home and going upstairs. My mom was probably hidden somewhere in the kitchen reading or baking,

I shuffled upstairs to my room trying to run away and hide from my mother. Once I was inside my room safely i stripped and went to my bathroom starting the shower and hopping in not worrying about the coldness. My bathroom was nothing big or fancy just bright because of the window to the side of the shower. As I stood in the cold water that slowly turned hot steaming the air, i watched as my blood and the water went down the drain. Its not as scary or creepy as you think if your used to it.

I always got beat up, you could say me and the school lockers are well acquainted. Always been me being teased and beat up since i have moved to this dumb town. Livy would freak out on my injury or stand up for me, i feel bad for the other person who makes her mad because when shes mad it feels like you dropped in the pits of hell. Rule 1 of being Livy's friend: Its better to stay on the girls good side.

As i was lost in thought with the water spraying on me i hear a knock on bathroom door my mum's voice coming from the other side. I rinsed one more time making sure all blood was gone and slowly turned off the shower. As i was wrapping a towel around my waist I noticed i forgot to grab clothes to change into. Mentally yelling at myself i unlock the door and went into my room with my mum gazes following . soon after i give her a look so she would look away as i dress.

She laid on my bed looking at the ceiling when she asked, "So who did it this time?" I tense at that not caring about a shirt now and laying next to her. My blond hair fell back from my head and i was stuck i had to tell the truth and my mum knew it.

"Did Livy tell you?"

" She didn't have too, I know you to well. Why didn't you just tell me when you got home i would help?" she sat up on her elbow and moved so her dirty blond hari was out of her face, her warm brown eyes seeing into mine. You would only see love and sadness in those eyes at this moment and it made my heart hurt.

"It's nothing mum i perfectly fine." I say this because i hate to worry her she only needs to worry about herself not me.

"Jamey, my baby boy," she sat up looking down at me taking my face into hers hands and smiling a sad smile. "Your my everything I am don't show interest in men because I only need you. I want you to know your not a burden and never will be. I love you and we will always have each other to watch out for us." she showed so much passion in her words and expression i couldn't help but believe her, so much that i was brought to tears.

Mum and I don't have much since my dad left with Cindy but we keep each others spirits up. When we get down this is what me and my mum do we say the words together, " We don't need anyone but each other because our love is enough." from this my mum was holding me as my tears came down. i felt like i was a kid again and i fell and hurt myself.

My mum picked my face up from her lap and smiled down at me wiping my tears away. We both just sat in silence for a while as i cuddle up to her on her lap like a child. She soon broke the silenced and talked about her day, it helped a lot to get my head off things. Apparently Mr. Thompson the older man down the street brought some more stuff over to help with the shop. He is very kind and sees me as his grandson and i think of him as my grandfather.

As we talked i ended up telling her what happened today. She seemed mad but never pushed me to do fighting classes because she knows how i feel about violence. She doesn't mind having a soft little boy though. We laugh though and say Livy needs to get in a fighting class though. My mum loves Livy we have been friends since day one when we moved here. Its been four years and i would help keep the boys away and she would keep them away from me. boys have been flirting with her since middle school she would just say she had a crush on me and pushed them away. She is crazy but we balance each other out, its nice though all i need is my mum and Livy.School was just a slow lane at the moment to my future for me to provide for them. I know what your thinking and NO, me and Livy don't like each other just best friends.

As my mum and I were talking the sun came down so we decided to go to the kitchen to make dinner. My mum was a huge cook i mean she owns a bakery. Her food is sooooo good no one will every surpass her cooking in my book. She was also a big book worm too(I guess i got that from her). Her room was practically a huge library ; it's so cool! I'm know doubt a huge geek because of her its kinda one of the ways we got along.

"So you have work tomorrow?" she gave me a small pleading smile. This was her way of me asking her to help her in the bakery tomorrow. She gave me her puppy dog face and i just laughed and shook my head my hair falling in my face. All signs of tear and pain gone.

"sure" i said with a smile at my mother's antics.
