I walked into the kitchen to see my parents making breakfast like they usually do every Sunday morning, I smiled. I prepared the plates and the utensils and laid them on the table. The three of us, my older brother, younger sister and I waited paitently for the food to come. While we waited, my older brother, Greg, was telling us about his plans today. He was first going out with his beautiful girlfriend, Mandy, to get her some stuff for when she was off for the holidays. Then, he said he would come back and relax with us and even cook us dinner. "I don't think you should cook tonight, dear." my mom said while turning off the stove. "Your dad and I are going for a honeymoon tonight."
"And we're not invited?" Greg put his hand on his chest, acting like he was hurt. We laughed. "We can order Chinese food and maybe watch some movies, siblings night!"
My dad put the food on the table and we digged in. MMM! Pancakes and french toasts, just the way I like it!
It was already 4 in the afternoon and Greg wasn't home yet, I was in my room with Joanna (my younger sister) doing our own things. I got worried so I called him, the line went dead. I calmed myself down and I thought to myself, 'maybe, he just turned his phone off or his phone died.' Suddenly, my house phone rang, I quickly raced to it but my dad got a hold of it first. I stood on top of the stairs, trying to hear. "I understand, thank you." I hid behind the wall, straining to listen to my parents' conversation. "He's in the hospital," my dad explained to my mom, you could hear him trembling. I heard footsteps coming up the stairs so I ran back into the room but they already knew I was there. "Sam," my mom called my name. "Let's go." I gave my mom a tight hug while she squeezed my arms telling me everything is going to be okay.
