The morning was drier than the last but it was also darker as the clouds were not only more popular, but more layered in the sky.

It's an early November morning, Steve is already awake and on the computer across the room at a desk.

"Morning... babe." I yawn grabbing at the blanket to warm myself.

"Hey Buck!" He calls spinning around on the desk chair. He's shirtless but wearing pajama pants. He crosses the room laying on the bed hugging me with the blanket between us.

"If you get dressed we can go out for breakfast."

"What time is it?"

"Almost 10."

I roll over onto my back nearly making him fall off.

"Okay Stevie. Give me like... 20 minutes." Steve seems satisfied, after grabbing clothing from his dresser he leaves the room and I close my eyes for a couple more minutes.

Steve's pov

I know he's not getting up right away, he never does. But it only takes him a few minutes to get ready and it's not like we're in a rush.

I dress in a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans along with a light brown jacket. Bucky describes my clothing as "average and practical" and I must agree, it really is.

Bucky walks out of the bedroom a while later in a white t-shirt, black jeans and a black leather jacket.

"So if I'm average and practical, can you be "you're one hundred why dress like you're 25" ?" He shakes his head walking into the bathroom.

"No, because I'm actually 27." He calls out mockingly.

We leave the apartment minutes later,Bucky's hair is in a weird bun thing Nat showed him where it's a ponytail he didn't pull through all the way, he says it's because it keeps his hair out of his face but I know it's because I think it's adorable.

As we're walking down the street towards a cafe Bucky sticks his hand in mine obviously hiding his left in his jacket pocket.

"You really don't have to hide it Buck." I tell him but he refuses, it makes him feel better to hide it, like he's just a normal guy and his boyfriend.

We enter the cafe and order food before taking a table next to the window.

The rain from yesterday has left the entire area damp and despite the dark clouds there's no sign of it continuing.

"So Mr. Let's-go-on-a-date, where to after this?" Buck asks drinking a coffee while trying to look serious but failing.

"I have some plans." I answer staring into his eyes to make his attempt at seriousness end and he laughs.

"Buck...?" I smile at him as he looks away and a bit of hair falls over his forehead and eyes.

"Are you wearing eyeliner?" He bites his lip and begins to laugh quietly.

"Why?"

He continues to avoid eye contact by focusing on his coffee and waffles but I just continue to stare just to make him look at me.

"It looks hot." I tell him, which is completely true.

"I'm just testing it." He tells me smirking.

As we finish breakfast Bucky had tried to justify his eyeliner multiple times and I eventually just told him to drop it, it honestly looks really hot and I was sick of his sad excuses.

We pay and continue down the street, hand in hand as before. The temperature is dropping making the wind cold and the dampness intolerable.

"You mind telling me where we're going not just leading me somewhere?" Bucky complains, I squeeze his hand reassuringly and begin to walk quicker.

Eventually we reached a store built next to an apartment building and a trailors.

"What is this place?" Bucky asks eyeing me suspiciously.

"It's a shelter. And we're going to look at dogs."

His eyes lit up instantly, brighter than I had seen in weeks. His grip on my hand tightens as he brings his metal hand out of his pocket for the first time in the walk and he starts slightly pulling me towards the door.

"We're not getting one today but we can look and decide what we'll need if we do get one." I'm pretty sure he heard me but I let him pull me in.

We walk in and head towards a desk where they let us into a room lined with large cages with anywhere from 3-7 dogs in them.

"Oh... my god." Bucky says quietly, the man who was at the desk and let us in leaves the room, Bucky grips my hand harder.

"So... we going to see some of them or..." I start but he's already walking towards some dragging me with him.

Eventually I have no idea where he is, as soon as I find him and start interacting with the dog he was with he had wandered off to another.

Soon I found him next to a pen which holds a singular dog, probably about 2-3 months old. Still really little.

"Hey look who I found." I laugh as he glances up at me before going back to the puppy.

Bucky is now trying to get his hand through the bars so he can pet it instead of the dog just licking him.

"Don't break the pen now, we can open it." A voice behind us says.

A young man stands spinning a key around his finger.

"Could you?" Bucky asks scooting away from the door.

"So whys he by himself?" I ask.

The worker laughs as he unlocks the door.

"He's very shy, the others pick on him. I've never seen him be so friendly to anyone before, other than you." The dog runs out of the pen over to Bucky jumping in his lap and nuzzling his snout into Bucky's arm.

"Steve... I think i love him more than I love you." Buck tells me wrapping his arm around the dog snuffling his face into his fur.

"He's a German Shepherd, almost 3 months old." The worker continues not understanding we'll be adopting him much sooner than later.

"You're hilarious Buck." I mock at him, turning away.

"So uh... can we make plans to adopt him or..."
