Chapter 17
This chapter includes drug use and may be triggering.
Day 6 with no sleep.
This is my 22nd cup of coffee in the week and I don't even like coffee.
I've spent £15 on energy drink and no one knows what's going on.
I've googled what the side effects are of not sleeping and the results are nasty, it told me I should consult a doctor but I don't think it's that bad. I take 20 minute naps when I feel it's needed but I can't go into a deep sleep, I'm too afraid.
Like always my school day dragged like hell and it gets worse, Today's my monthly meeting with the social worker.
My social worker Liana is a young but slightly annoying, she's been working with me for 1 year and a bit now and I like her besides the fact that she's annoying.
She's the nagging type of person, always pestering and asking questions, but I've got to give it to her, she's only doing her job.
She takes a seat on our sofa and takes out her notebook.
"Hello Hale how have you been?" She asks
"Fine thanks" I lie
"You look tired are you sure your alright?" She pushes
"I'm fine thank you I stay up quite late doing revision, year 10 is getting hard" I say, decorating my lie
Looks like she believed it "Oh yes, I remember when I was your age it definitely does get harder." She says trying to make conversation
"Are you socialising well in school Hale?"
"Yes, I have a whole group of friends now."
"Oh really that's a great improvement" she says writing something down
"How are Gary and Fabian?" She continues
"They're great" I say with a smile.
"Are you settling in alright?" she asks
I have been living with them for a while now Liana...
"Yeah" I simply say
"Okay so I need to talk to your parents is there anything you need to ask me?"
I thought for a second
"You know my dad..." I say
Liana's eyebrows furrow, I never talked about my father.
"Yes?" She said her head cocked to the side
"What are the possibilities of him having visitors in prison or time out?"
"Very slim Hale, what your dad did was extremely bad, he'll be gone for a long time."
"Okay" I say wondering how he lives in that house.
"Is something wrong Hale?" She says, her voice soft
"No, it's just that I was wondering" I lie
