The doctors say
He has limited time
Until his memories fade forever
I feed on their doubt
His mind is clouded like the sky outside
The rain starts to fall
Crying for my loss
Hoping for my success
My brother loves me
Not in the way
A brother is supposed to love
In the way you love a friend
He stands by my side
I search
His brown eyes
For wisps of a memory
Sometimes I see a flash in his innocent eyes
But
He
Never
Remembers
Memories float away
On the breeze
Like music notes
But they always come back
Love hurts like a bullet
Love is warm like a blanket
Love is complicated
Love drives me
My brother hardly speaks
His lips stay shut like a locked door
Sometimes the words people don't say
Are as powerful as the ones they do
Silence is powerful
Love is powerful
