burdens born on shaking shoulders

were not given lightly;

what makes you think my hands

were invented to carry this alone?

my heart was strengthened by adversary 

my teeth are hard as iron

the gravel in my voice

is not from screaming

i have pulled myself from worse pits

than the hell others have dug for me

yet you tell me to fight

as if the uphill battle wasn't enough

to turn my bones to lead

and my words to steel

i never claimed to be great

and the cracks in my visage are too real

but i am human -

not strong

just stubborn
