Tommy's POV
It was getting darker as the sun started disappearing, and a chill filled the air.
I found the key to unlock the shelter and grabbed the first aid kit from the garage. I ran outside to open up the shelter, then I noticed the hail had stopped, which in this case is never a good sign.
I went back inside were my mom and aunt Judy were getting the snacks like they promised. The TV was on and I listened to the weather update.

"Well folks looks like we have a super cell forming in the west. We also have reports of a circulating cloud but hasn't taken shape of a tornado yet. Although it would be best to take cover and start making your tornado preparation plans."

"We better make sure everything is set to go." aunt Judy said

"Yeah" mom responded "Tommy, did the girls get settled in the shelter?"

"I don't know." I said "I can check."

"Please do, I need everyone accounted for."

I stepped outside and went over to the shelter. I found Leah, but no Monica.

"Where's Monica?" I asked Leah

"We thought we should get pillows so she went to go get some."

"I'm right here."

I turned around and found Monica standing behind me.

"Get in!" I instructed "I'll get mom and aunt Judy."

I ran back inside
"COME ON!" I shouted at mom and aunt Judy. They didn't move

"We need to go." I said.

Mom looked outside, her gaze was so far I couldn't tell what see was looking at. It was weird I was freaking out about my mom's behavior, I've never seen her like this before.

"Mom?"

"Get in the shelter" was all she said.

I stepped outside to take a look. It was still dark and cool, it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop a block away. I knew that meant something bad was on the way.

"I'm going to the shelter" I said sternly, hoping that mom would realize I wasn't messing around. "You should come too" It was the last thing I said before I walked outside with Judy.
