~back story~
Thomas came home later one night after a terrible storm came through. Tommy was 5 years old at the time and had tried to stay awake until Thomas came home, but Tommy fell asleep before he got home. Thomas walked into Tommy's room and said good night.
"Daddy why are you home later tonight?" Tommy asked.
"Because there was a big storm that came through on the other side of town and it lasted a long time" Thomas told Tommy.
"Do you promise to never leave me?"
Thomas didn't know what to say, he didn't want to lie to Tommy but he also couldn't promise something he had no control over.
"Yes I promise I'll always be here" Thomas finally said.
"I love you daddy"
"I love you too Tommy."
