Chapter Three Reggie's Plan

“Jughead, are you alright? Pop, could we get a water for Jughead please?” I asked

“Of course..” Pop said

“Laura.. I know why Charlie’s in Riverdale; Reggie Mantle paid him to convince you to go out with him..” Jughead said panting

“How the hell did Reggie even find him? Charlie’s been gone for nine years.. That explains why he wanted to give me a lift.. so he could try to convince me to go out with Reggie.” I said

“Laura, you know you have a choice; if you don’t want to go out with Reggie Mantle you don’t have to. Charlie can’t force that on you.” Betty said

“There’s my girl..” Reggie said, entering the diner

“What do you want, Reggie?” Archie asked

“I want Laura to accompany me to the homecoming dance and afterparty.” Reggie said

“Sorry to burst your bubble, Reggie, but I can’t make it, my mother’s working late and I have to baby sit Chrissie.” I said

“Who the hell is Chrissie?” Reggie asked

“She’s Laura’s younger sister. She was with Laura the other night, Reggie.” Jughead said

“Laura Addison..” Charlie said semi angrily

“Who is that?” Veronica asked

“Charlie Morgan; Laura’s father.” Jughead said

“That’s Laura’s father?” Betty asked with shock in her voice

“I have no idea why Charlie would be pissed at Laura.. she didn’t do anything; he’s the one that left her,  Ms. Addison and Chrissie.” Jughead said

“Reggie bribed you to try and weasel your way back into our lives.. you had nine years to fix whatever you thought you screwed up in life, Charlie. You could have fixed your relationship with Mom, you could have taken the time to get to know your daughters, but no.. you decided to go off and leave us.. Chrissie and I may be your daughters, but you will never be our father.. Come on, guys. We’ll be late for school if we don’t get moving..” I said, throwing my backpack over my shoulder, placing the money by the register and following closely behind Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead

“Laura, are you alright?” Jughead asked

“I have never been more angry with anyone in my life.. I’m sorry about losing my cool in the diner, that was a side of me I didn’t want my new friends to see.” I said

“I know what you and your sister are going through, Laura. My dad was the same way.. my mom and sister Jellybean are currently at my grandparents’ house.” Jughead said

“I’m sorry, Jughead. I had no idea.. I guess we have more in common than we thought.” I said

“Two misunderstood souls with father issues.. Only in Riverdale.” Jughead said jokingly

‘We were then approached by a girl with red hair and a fiery look in her eyes, Jughead and I stopped cold as she stood a few feet from us..’

“You’re that Addison girl, right? I’m Cheryl Blossom, the Queen Bee of Riverdale High School.” She said

“Laura.. It’s nice to meet you..” I said “Come by my table in the cafeteria, you have potential as a Red Vixen.. I see you have a fire in your spirit..” Cheryl said, walking away

“Red Vixens?” I asked

“It’s Riverdale High’s Cult for misguided teenage girls..” Jughead said

“I know about cheer squads, Jughead.. I was coerced by the head cheerleader at my old school in Boston..” I said

“So, are you gonna join the Vixens and stop hanging out with us?” Jughead asked

“Of course not.. I’m nothing like Cheryl.. Besides, cheerleading isn’t really my thing..” I said

“Laura, when should I pick you up for homecoming?” Reggie asked as we entered the main hallway

“Reggie, didn’t you hear what I said this morning..? I’m babysitting my sister that night. I can’t go.” I called

“I’ll pick you up around 7:30. Look for a hot guy in the limousine.” Reggie said

“I’ll be sure to tell you when I see him.” I called

“Laura, your first Riverdale burn..” Jughead said

“Actually, I have to work on the night of Homecoming. But I’m not telling Reggie that so he can try to bust me out.” I said

“I won’t tell Reggie that you’ll be working..” Jughead said

“You are an amazing friend, Jughead Jones.” I said 

‘I had looked over my shoulder to see Reggie readying to throw a football toward us..’

“Jughead, watch out!” I yelled

“Aghh.. God.” Jughead said, covering his nose

“Are you okay?” I asked

“Laura, how bad is it?” Jughead asked

“It’s bleeding. I think he broke your nose. We should have the nurse take a look at it.” I said, looking angrily at Reggie

‘Jughead and I had made our way to the nurse’s office, A mysterious figure had watched us in the mist along with Charlie.. it was one family reunion that the four of us would never forget..’
