Faith POV: When we got home from the school I was sure Gracie was crying. She ran up to her room and shut the door. "Maybe we should go talk to her." Tim said. "I think that's a good idea...I'll tell you what, you go start dinner and I'll see if I can find out what's wrong." I went up the stairs and knocked on Gracie's door then slowly opened it. "Can I come in?" "Yeah." She said. She was sitting on her bed staring at her phone. I went over and sat down beside her. "What's the matter honey?" "Nothing it's jusr...Nevermind." "No tell me, what's wrong?" "It's just...They are so mean to her." "To who?" I asked. "To Sarah. I mean, those girls are mean to everyone but they are especially hard on her. I try to stop them whenever I'm around, and the usually do. But as today proves, If I'm not around to stand up for her then they don't care. They just do whatever they can to hurt her feelings. Sarah's not a bad kid. Those pictures that they sent around weren't what Ms. Smith made it sound like. They were just pictures of her trying dresses for the end of the year dance. When they sent them they called her awful names and I just hate it! Sarah is a really nice girl, I've talked to her a few times in class. There's no reason at all why those girls treat her the way they do. Why do they have to be so mean?" Gracie's words brokenmy heart. I knew kids today were cruel, but I had absolutely no idea they were this bad. I searched my brain for the words to say next. "Honey, I don't know why people feel the need to beat people down like they do. Maybe it makes them feel empowered or something. When in all reality they are just bullies...I'm so proud of you for standing up for Sarah, you did the right thing." I reached over and gave her a hug. "I just wish I could have done more." She said. Just as we were hugging Tim walked through the door. He had a sad look on his face and I knew he was about to tell us some bad news.
