"Hey y/n once you finish up the dishes you are free to go I can take care of everything else from here" my boss said as he took a huge puff of his Cuban Cigar I watched in silence as he walked into his office slamming the door behind him

"Yes Sir.." 

I whispered to myself as I turned back to finish cleaning the piles of dirty dishes Trash riddled the floors and the trash cans were overloaded with garbage and as usual like every night  I got screwed over by my entire co- workers The restaurant was a complete mess and here I was a dishwasher,prep cook,cook and whatever else you can think of cleaning behind these people but it was the only job that I could get being as I had just gotten out of Prison a year ago you see I was falsely accused of armed robbery when in all honesty in my attempt to help the dying store clerk my finger prints mixed with the real robber and I got arrested for the crime and well the robber got away I was completely innocent and yeah I know what you're thinking everyone says that they are innocent when the are in prison but in my case.. I actually was..

I stood in the kitchen spraying dishes off and loading them into the dish machine after a few hours I was finally finished and dog tired the only thing that I wanted to do was go home take a hot shower have a small bite to eat or maybe skip dinner and just go to sleep I clocked out and headed for my car an old 2010 police interceptor Crown Vic. the car was on it's last leg but somehow it managed to get me from point A to B  that's all that I wanted I lived in a modest yet clean Apartment  it was nothing fancy but it was home,my home I got into my car and started the engine

Driving down the same dark lonely road that I traveled every single night it was dimly lit with the odd street light every few feet or so I decided to play the radio to take my mind off of the deafening silence my favorite song "Stairway To Heaven" had just begun 

"Yes! " 

I said to myself with a small smile I drove along the dark road until something shiny caught my eye I noticed the object getting closer causing me to slow my speed  after a few minutes of making sure everything was clear I picked up a bit of speed there was a stop light just a few feet ahead the light had changed from green to yellow to red and as I reached the dark intersection my car came to a smooth stop I closed my eyes for a minute feeling the guitar riffs of the song

"BAM!BAM!BAM!" 

"OH MY GOD PLEASE HELP ME! THEY'RE  AFTER ME! PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE!!" 

A woman shouted her raspy hoarse voice was almost inaudible she banged on the hood of the car frantically before falling to the side of the car

"Jesus fucking Christ!!' what the fuck!" I shouted as I exited the car running around to the passengers side I noticed a girl laying beside my car her clothes were ripped and torn she was bleeding she brandished scratches on her arms and legs I could tell that she had been running through the woods because her feet appeared cut and swollen the girl lay breathing very heavily against the car

"hey! what happened whats going on?! who's chasing you!" I said as I examined her afraid to touch her

"Who's chasing you where are they?" I shouted as I tried to make sense of what was going on I  quickly glanced around me and caught a glimpse of what looked like flashlights shining through the trees the lights were about 15 miles off 

"THEY'RE IN THE WOODS PLEASE HELP ME!"  the girl screamed as tears fell from her face her voice even more hoarse than before

"Okay ,okay I'll get you some help get you to the police and the hospital!"  I said

"NO! NO POLICE! AND NO HOSPITAL THEY WILL FIND ME!" she yelled as she grabbed my shirt pulling me into her

"Okay let me help you into my car" I said I gently lifted the girl up she was very small about 5'4'' brunette her eyes were half closed I could tell that she was in pain but no police and no hospital I had to help her somehow as I placed her into the car I noticed the lights getting closer and the sound of an angry guy yelling  in the distance

"LAUREN WHERE ARE YOU YOU BITCH! I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!!" in that moment that was all that I needed to know to get the hell out of there I quickly ran around the driver's side and sped off in the opposite direction I drove full speed to my apartment and took shortcuts just in case I was being followed I glanced over at the girl and noticed that her heavy breathing was still evident she looked at me with complete fear in her eyes

"Hey it's okay it's okay you're safe now I promise..."
