It's a hot day in New York, the sun beating down upon the citizens of Manhattan, the sky a radiant blue, and it's a very stressful day for Alexander Hamilton. His wife is away with his son, and Angelica, his wife's sister. They are probably walking in the park after dark, enjoying their time off. While Alexander is stuck in the city, working his ass off so that he can get his plan, to ratify the Constitution, through Congress.
"If only I had taken a break." He thought.
"I could be with Eliza, Angelica, and Phillip, enjoying the outdoors and-No, you have to get this plan through Congress, you can't stop until you get this plan through Congress."
But he couldn't stay up any longer, he hadn't slept in a week, his eyes were bloodshot and had very dark circles underneath. He smelled of sweat, because he had been wearing the same clothes for a week. He decided to clean himself up, change his clothes, and take a quick walk into town to get some fresh air. He put his hair up in a messy, lazy, ponytail and walked outside.
"After you're done you're going straight back to work." He told himself.
He headed into town, he saw the same as usual: The poor in distress, people loading goods off of ships onto the harbor, men trying to woo the women walking by. But there was something he wasn't used to seeing, in one of the alley ways a average sized woman in a crimson dress was crying. She was on her knees on the ground the dress was like a giant donut around her. It spread all around her, giving her a sense of elegance. Alexander, the ladies man of New York, jumped to the rescue.
"Excuse me miss, are you alright?" He touched her shoulder but she was frightened by his touch, so he moved his hand quickly away.
"Miss?"
She turned to face him, her lips were blood red, her eyes looked like chocolate truffles, desirable yet sweet. Her cheeks were flushed and her skin looked smooth as caramel. Her hair a dark brown, with hints of light brown here and there. The light brown showing only in the sunlight. This suited her, and Alexander couldn't help but notice her beauty. She floated as she walked towards Alexander. Her steps so soft and so light that you could hear a pin drop.
"I'm fine, but thank you, uh, sir." She began to walk away from him, but Alexander couldn't help but know more about this mysterious woman he just met.
"I don't mean to intrude miss," He began, making her stop walking.
"But you don't seem fine."
She turned around to face him once more. "Why would a man of your stature be interested in the well being of a poor woman like me?"
"You intrigue me." He said. They share an intense gaze. Alexander breaks the gaze realizing what he's doing.
"I'm alright-I just-I'm just having some problems with my husband, that's all." She said, her gaze was down at the ground. There was moment of silence, Alexander wanted to know more, but he knew that would rude of course, asking personal questions to a woman he just met. So instead he replied:
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be, it's nothing." She reassured me.
"Well it was nice meeting you miss-"
"Maria"
"What?"
"My name is Maria."
"Oh well nice meeting you Maria." He began to walk away.
"Wait! Aren't you going to tell my your name?" She asked.
"I have to go I'm afraid, but here's my address, if you ever need to reach me." He pulled a piece of paper with his address on it and gave it to Maria.
"Have a good afternoon Maria." He nodded to her.
"You too, sir." Maria was intrigued by this man that didn't give his name. But she knew that her business was not to get to know him, it was to manipulate him and to get money for her and her son. She was determined to get inside his mind to save herself.
