i guess i'll write in english cause literally EVERYTHING i found about asexuality online was in english, so i thought it would be easier and i would feel more at ease. does than make any sense?
anyway, writing this could be helpful since i'll have to come out to my parents, eventually, or maybe never. i don't know, i think i'm too scared.
but let's start from the basics. asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction towards pretty much everyone, their gender doesn't matter, and it's that.
i mean, it's nothing scary or weird, it's just another sexual orientation.
IT'S NOT celibacy or abstinence, nor a phase, the inability to find the "right person" or a mental illness. the thing that scares me the most is telling my parents that i'm ace, and they'll just think that there's something wrong in my head or that they've done something wrong as parents, which isn't the case.
but if they told me something like that i think i would internally die, and i'm not brave enough to face that.
but yeah, let's keep talking about asexuality. its most famous community is called A.V.E.N (asexuality visibility and education network) and it was founded by david jay, who's also asexual, in 2001.
it is believed that only 1% of the world population is asexual but i have strong opinions about this:
a) even if it's actually "only" 1%, it's still A LOT of people, if you think about it
and b) i believe that many people, who might actually be asexual, doesn't know that it exists, that it is a possibility and that there's nothing wrong with that.
also, you should make a difference between sexual and romantic orientation, so even if someone identifies as asexual, they still might feel romantic feeling towards someone.
i'll leave the link of a documentary that i found a while ago that's really good, and also i think that i might talk about my experience and my (a)sexuality in the near future. we'll see.
