Ready, Set, NO

Kay guys I've actually been really freaking out about the future lately.

Everyone tells me I need to know what I'm doing as a Junior in highschool. So I have a plan. I'm going to school to become an editor. But they didn't tell me how much I needed to plan!

I need to know what college I'm going to and what keel of education I'll go to and how I'm going to get 800+ hours of experience and how I'm going to be able to study abroad if I do this and how big of a family I'm planning on having and when and AUUUUGGGHHHH!

I literally just want to scream.

Listen. I'm in highschool. Y'all are still making me ask the teacher to go to my locker. Now you expect me to know everything I'm doing for the rest of my life? Like-

READY, SET, NOOOOOO.

I AM NOT READY

I HAVE NO PLANS SET

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ahem. What I meant to say is-

NO, no, that's not what I meant, I meant to say-

I meant to say that I am-

DYING!!!

You've gotta be kidding me. I meant, IAmSoSickOfAdultsExpectingSoMuchFromUsAtThisAgeAlready.

There, did I say it fast enough? Stupid brain.

Anyways, seriously. They expect far too much planning done, when we haven't had time to prepare. When we're little, we're like, "Mommy, I'm gonna be a princess!" And she just sorta nods and says, "That's great, sweetie."

When we're in middle school, we're like, "I want to be this!" And everyone says, "Do what makes you happy."

Now that we're in Junior year of highschool, we're in that same mindset and we say, "I want to do what makes me happy!" And DO YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT THE ADULTS SAY NOW? HUH? DO YA?!

"How are you going to make a living with that?"

"Where are you going to college for that?"

"Do you know what the job outlook is on that?"

"How long will it take you to go through school for that?"

"Do you have your future figured out?"

"You will die if you don't have a plan."

"You're going to be homeless."

"THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"

Okayyyy maybe a few of those are exaggerations, but the first few are legit! It's like no one believes you can do it no matter what it is! It makes me not want to even plan my future anymore!

But I love reading, I love writing, and I love editing. Being an editor would be a great job for me. And I really think I should go for it.

It's just the fact that I'm getting so stressed about my future! They ask. So. Many. Questions. It's like they're waiting for you to mess up, just so they can tell you what's wrong with your plan. It's insane! It's like being grilled by policemen looking for holes in your story!

Of course there is a moral to this story. Never let those questions and fears make you doubt your future. It's YOURS. You should be able to look forward to your plan and say that's what you want to do, however you make that work.

And I guess adults really do care a lot. Most of them are just worried about us. But they gotta chill XD

Either way, I wanna know what you guys would love to do in your future, or what you love doing right now! #passion
