"Um..... what?" Jensen blinked a few times in confusion. Okay, definitely not what he was expecting Misha to say.
"You heard me."
It took him a second to process everything. "Okay..... uh, here." He passed the guitar over to Misha before scooting closer to him. "So there's a total of six strings on a guitar. The thickest string is tuned to a low E. After that, it's A, then D, G, and B. The thinnest string is also an E, but tuned higher than the other E string."
Misha nodded, fingers sliding over each string as he was told which one was which. "What else?"
"Make sure you play with the tips of your fingers. Not the part with your fingerprint on it though." Jensen told him. "Okay, so one of the easiest songs to learn is I'm Yours. It's one of the first I learned to play. The first note is a G." He pointed out the string.
Misha played it a few times to get the hang of it. "Alright, what next?"
"The next note is a D." He answered, watching as he strummed it a few times. "You're doing pretty good so far. The next part is actually kind of tricky. It's an E-minor. And to get that, you put your middle finger on the fifth string, and then your ring finger on the third string. Got it?"
"Uh... no." He shook his head in confusion, eyebrows furrowing as he tried to figure it out.
Jensen scooted even closer. He was practically sitting behind Misha now, leaning to the side the neck of the guitar was on. "This finger goes on this string, and this finger goes on this string." He gently took his hand, moving his fingers so they were placed on the correct strings. "Now you strum all of them while still holding those two down.
Misha nodded and tried strumming it a few times, but it sounded off. "Am I doing it right?"
"Sort of." He checked his fingers, but saw one had slipped to play another string rather than the correct one. "Move this finger back to the correct one." He tapped it, and Misha moved it back to the correct string it was supposed to be on. He gave it a few more strums, but it still seemed a little off.
"Your pinky keeps getting caught on the first string." Jensen pointed out as he peered at the position of his fingers.
"How do I place my hand so it won't get caught?" Misha questioned. He actually wanted to know. He's wanted to learn how to play for a long time, but never got around to learning how.
Jensen was already moving before he spoke. "Like this." With one arm, he wrapped it across Misha's back to go to one end of the guitar. With the other, he guided the other man's hand into a position where his other fingers wouldn't get caught on the strings.
Misha glanced up at the other man, blue eyes meeting green. They gazed at each other, unable to tear their eyes away.
And suddenly, they were both leaning in closer to each other. Their lips brushed, the slight touch full of hesitation. After a second, Jensen closed the small space between them, pressing his lips against Misha's.
The kiss was tentative and gentle, which felt like a comforting feeling for Misha after the emotional wreck he'd been for the past month since the two of them broke up. It was slow and apologetic and forgiving and tender and warm, all at the same time. So much so that it made the shorter man a little dizzy, but maybe it was just the fact that they were kissing each other again. There was still that hint of a spark Misha got every time they had kissed previously, and it sent a shiver down his spine.
Yeah, he had definitely missed this.
