Kara Danvers
Earth-38

Kara swallowed thickly, wringing her hands nervously together. She had been pacing the door in front of her for the past twenty minutes, and still the crushing anxiety clung to her her heart like a cat to its mouse. But she didn't have a choice.

She couldn't go on like this.

It had been about two weeks, and her situation with her sister hadn't improved at all. Every time Kara attempted to talk to the agent, she was ignored. She could feel Alex sneak glances at her here and there in the command center, but besides that, hadn't even made an effort to fix the damage between them.

And if Kara was being honest, she was done.

She didn't deserve to be treated like this. For better or for worse, they had made a promise when they were younger; to always, always stand by each other, no matter what. And sure, they would have their disputes...but this, this was more than an argument...

It was betrayal.

She wasn't talking to Winn or James much anymore either, who were too busy doing Guardian-things to even give her a call. And her relationship with Lena....well that was a mess. She had attempted to reach out to the CEO multiple times, each with she was always met with a voicemail or her assistants voice, saying she was in a meeting or busy.

Everything was so screwed up.

As a result, she didn't sleep anymore. It's was like everywhere she walked, a dark cloud hug over her head. She currently felt as alone as she did locked in her pod, floating in the phantom zone for all eternity. And Kara didn't see a way to repair the most important relationships in her entire life, and maybe she was jumping the gun, but Kara didn't feel like she fit anymore. So, there was only one thing to do.

Go to the one place where she did fit.

It was about time Kara put her own needs in front of everyone else's.

To finally be rid of all of the anger, and hurt, and betrayal.

To get a fresh start.

But that didn't mean she would abandon her city, the humans who were truly innocent throughout this entire ordeal either. And that's how Kara found herself here, dreading the steel door in front of her.

Before Kara could spin around to pace the cement hallway one more time, her head bobbed up to get a small glance at the short, auburn-haired figure who was rounding the corner and heading her way. Before her sister could ignore her once again she ducked into the room, the cold presence being all the extra motivation she needed to get the courage to walk inside.

The blonde sighed, closing the door behind her, and offering a sad, lopsided smile. "Hey J'onn."

"Kara." He prompted respectfully in response, motioning to a chair in front of his desk. The blonde pursed her lips together, before moving swiftly and sitting, with her arms folded in her lap. "What can I do for you?"

"Well, I have to tell you something J'onn. Something you may not like." Kara paused, looking up as his eyebrows pitched together, intrigued. "I have to request a leave of absence from the DEO, and all duties that are Supergirl related."

J'onn blinked, leaning forward toward her, concern now dominating his expression. "Has something happened?"

Kara broke eye contact, her sight slipping down to the twiddling thumbs in her lap. "No, no. Nothing...bad. I'm not hurt or anything."
