Mitch's thoughts, still clouded and drowsy from sleep, were only focused on how lullingly warm his blankets were as they swaddled him, and how much he really didn't want to leave their enticing embrace.

But of course, that was before he remembered the email.

He shot up in bed as if he'd been electrified, immediately reaching over and claiming his laptop in his eager hands. He opened his messages at record speed, and a gentle rose dusted his cheeks as he re-read the email. He still couldn't believe it. He supposed it would take a while for it to truly sink in that he had a direct line of communication with none other than Scott Hoying, the boy he'd admired from afar for over a year now. What better way to help fortify his belief in this addicting new situation than respond, which would inevitably lead to him receiving another message of his own. He rubbed his sleep hooded eyes and stretched out his back and fingers before typing his response.

Scott!
    Hello again!

Mitch's mind drew a blank on what to say after that, thoughts completely barren of witty remarks or casual compliments. Why was this so difficult?

Well personally, I'm very glad you put your email in your bio, because how else would I have gotten to start talking to you?

Was that too forward? Yes, yes it was.

Well, I'm glad I'm finally putting your email adress to use 😂.

Did that sound cocky? Whatever, he was gonna go for it.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly even though you were probably busy. I hope I wasn't too much of a hassle. If there's ever a time when you're too busy to respond to me, please don't feel pressured. I'll get it.
Well anyway, I'm 21, and I live in Arlington Texas. I checked our timezones, and it looks like I'm two hours ahead of you.

Mitch considered this for a moment, then backspaced, concluding that he'd rather not reveal to Scott that he'd bothered to look up their timezones. He didn't want to immediately reveal just how obsessed and clingy he was; he would tone it down for the time being.

I've always really admired your voice. It's incredible. I sing as well, and I can't help but admire a good musician when I see one. I grew up doing theatre and always performing, and it's pretty much the main focus of my life (after my school work which currently takes up the majority of my time).
But anyway, sorry for rambling. I'm excited to be talking to you, and I hope you have a great day!
-Mitch

He scanned the email again, his pretty features contorting in disgust. He hit send with disgruntlement, not able to think of anything specific he could change in the email to make it better. This whole messaging thing probably wasn't going to last anyway. Scott would probably get bigger on vine, and soon he'd have no time for being pen pals with a clingy awkward gay boy over the Internet. With this thought nagging at the back of his head, Mitch was determined to make the most out of what he got with Scott. Wether that be four days of sending dry emails back and forth, or a friendship that could last up to six months, if Mitch was lucky. Who knew, really.

An hour later he found himself sitting in class at Mountain View College, the local university Mitch and Kirstie had decided to attend together. Almost all the classes he was taking were things he really wasn't all that interested in, but everything music was too far away. The class he was in right now was in all honesty quite easy for him, so he didn't find taking notes all too essential at the moment. His sweet intelligent mind, typically filled with thoughts of worry or doubt, was now tugged away into a much more enticing realm.
