I sit very still on the stone steps. The doctors would find me eventually. But, for now. I need to think. To go back through the last year's and remove the hazy quality.
It isn't human.
I had gotten out with relative ease. The police officer and my father and mother were out of sight. So I just walked out of my room and found my way here. The steps outside the hospital.
The sun shines behind thick clouds of pollution. I keep my arms wrapped around my middle, watching closely the people walking past. A short girl with a pink frilly dress and blonde hair streaks past in a run.
I watch with wide eyes moving over everything. It's bright, smelly, and has a lot of people. I love it.
A man in a suit is accompanied by a young girl with a scowl. She's very pretty, with long brown hair and green eyes. She locks eyes with me almost immediately.
"Are you a patient?" Her voice is cold. Her eyes watching me closely. The man next to her has fire red hair and a hard jawline.
"No." I lie. Watching her just as closely. The man leans into her and whispers something in her ear. She glares at him for a moment before turning back to me.
"If you're hurt you need to go back inside." Her voice is softened just the slightest. But the difference it makes is unbelievable. Her face smoothes into a blank look and her square shaped face shows just how pretty it is. No wonder the handsome man next to her sticks so close to her.
"I'm not hurt." I tell her the truth. She looks at me with an unrelenting gaze. She makes a noise.
"Well, then why are you on the steps of a hospital in a hospital gown?"
"Why are you walking the city streets in a dress?" She gives me another look over. Seeming genuinely surprised.
"I like dresses." She lies. I can tell because her hands tug at the end of the blue dress with an obvious want to get it off.
"Don't lie." The man next to her laughs. He looks at me as I say this. His lips pulling into a very cold smile. It makes his rugged handsome face, much more handsome.
"Wouldn't dream of it." She doesn't show any surprise at my comment. She gives a pointed look behind my shoulder. "Get back in there. Someone's missing you."
"Yes. I'm sure." I agree.
"You don't sound-"
"Zeus." Her voice is sharp. I blink in surprise at them. She casts a look down the street before focusing on me. "Look whatever your name is, whatever the hell is happening with you is fixable. You don't like what's going on in that hospital? If you are really not hurt, then leave. Get yourself to Ed's Bar. Tell him Lillith sent you. Also," I watch her with wide surprised eyes. "Get some damn clothes on before you get there. Some jeans at least."
"0381."
"What?" She asks. Only half paying attention. Already walking away.
"My name." She looks at me sharply as I stand. Turning back to the door. "Experiment 0381."

I imagine going back to my hospital room with a scowl. Currently, I've found my way to a play room. It's empty and sad. Bins filled with weird objects I've never seen.
"I don't understand what this is supposed to accomplish." I say aloud. Because I know someone is watching me from the doorway. They've been standing there silently for a while. Watching me play with a little fish, rolling the fish shaped device around to get a tiny ball into a goal set at the bottom of the device.
