"These windows are going to be a problem." Adam says. The 'leader' of this little security team. He motions to the enormous windows in this room. My room.
"This room has more than one security problem. There are two exits, the windows are huge. Shit, even her goddamn bathroom looks too much of a hazard to keep around." Brett butts in. Brett reminds me of the doctors back at home due to his posture and the set of his shoulders. His hair is a bold orange that is a dark red in some spots. His motioning to the bathroom has me glancing over to see. The bath is huge, the window big but textured, the shower has a glass door, and the sink is stainless steel.
"I like the bathroom." Gavin says. He wrinkles his nose at the window. "We definitely need to put her in a more secure room."
"No." The voice sounds a bit strained and I glance at the woman it comes from. My mother. "This is her room. She's not moving. This is her bedroom wing."
There's a silence.
"Ma'am, you hired us to keep her safe. We're giving you our professional opinions." Adam says. His hair a dark rich mahogany brown. He catches me looking at him and shoots me a questioning look.
"We set this room up for when she got home." Her voice stays uncomfortably strained. I cross my legs from my spot on my new bed. She looks at me with tears in her eyes. "If she got home."
I cross my arms and attempt to give her a comforting look. "Um. Well, here I am."
She nods and wipes her eyes. "Henry, will you handle this? I need to go rest awhile."
"Of course, Allison." Henry says. Henry's my dad's name.
"Are there anymore bedroom's on this wing?" Gavin asks. His black hair arranged in spikes on his head. His blue eyes lock onto Henry's. "If you could make the windows bulletproof, that would be enough."
"Yes, we can do that." Henry looks over at me. "How're you feeling?"
"How am I feeling?" I give him an incredulous look. I look around the room. I look at the security team. I look at Officer Carlton, my brother. "I-" I shake my head, standing. "I want to go home."
"You are home." Carlton says stepping forward. I shake my head and walk to the 'dangerous' bathroom.
"I just need a minute before you all tell me how many ways my life has changed." I slam the door behind me and walk over to the huge bath. After a moment of deliberation I crawl into it and look up at the ceiling.
~~~
Twenty minutes after I get comfortable I hear a knock.
"Aria, you okay in there?" Gavin's voice floats to me through the door.
"That's not my name." I respond. He opens the door and looks at me completely clothed in a bath that's probably never been used.
"You didn't lock the door." He says it while closing the door. He walks over to me and looks my position over. "That looks uncomfortable."
"It's not." I glare at him before looking up at the ceiling again.
"Must be. You've been in here for awhile." I look up at his blue eyes.
"It's only been twenty minutes."
"More like two and a half hours. You get lost in that pretty head of yours?"
"How'd you get stuck with the job of getting me to stop moping and go into my room?"
"I'm crap at tic tac toe."
