hey agressivelysketching I don't think you've been tagged here before, just wanted to do that. Sorry if I'm bugging you or anything.
So today we're talking about the PewDiePie controversy- no? Is that irrelevant now? Ok fine let's finally talk about that thing I mentioned a million years ago.
So you ever wonder why Celesteela is better off using grass moves than most grass types? Well that's cuz they suck. Nobody uses grass types in competitive. Now I know I'm going to have Risk say 'I do, Kartana lol kek Tapu Bulu lol kek kek.' (I am by no means trying to offend you.) But those are the exceptions, being a Ultra Beast and Tapu. Also I know there are good grass types but there are also a lot of really bad ones.
So why doesn't anybody use them? For starters very rarely is there a pure grass fully evolved Pokemon. There are some but not many, so if people are using a grass type there's a chance its only for the secondary typing. Then there's a lot of grass types that just straight up suck. Parasect, Vileplume, Victreebel, Meganium, Sunflora, Jumpluff, Tropius, Torterra, Wormadam, Cherrim, carnivine, Mega Abomasnow, Simisage, Maractus, Sawsbuck, Chesnaught, Gourgeist, Shiinotic, and Tsareena.
That's a lot of terrible grass types, and that's only the fully evolved ones. The problem is grass types have a LOT of weaknesses. More than any other type. (Probably, too lazy to check.) Ice, a type that is all attack since defensive ice types don't work, flying who can take advantage of roost, poison who are natural stallers, bug. Megahorn. And fire, one of the most attack based types!
So you see why you don't often see grass types on teams, people opt for electric types for water weaknesses. Then there's Alolan Marowak with lightningrod and the sheer amount of water ground types and well crap. No wonder there was so many AMAZING water types!
Which brings us to our next topic, why RotomW is so powerful. Being one of the three Electric Water types, Rotom-W is only weak to grass. And mold breaker mons. And gravity mons. And all mons who can negate the effects of levitate! And since Grass is rarely used Rotom-W can tank a lot of attacks and fire back with some serious power.
I know certain types have to get the short end of the stick, but why does water only have two weaknesses, and grass have five! Can we remove a grass weakness? Like flying. But not bug, bugs need all the advantages they can get. Let's also make water weak to ice, we have it in freeze dry so just complete what you've started. It'll make ice types more useful.
So there's my rant. I'm expecting a list of all the useful grass types and how they'r all over the current meta that I know nothing about.
