'What are we going to do Joey?' I sighed, watching as my baby brother slept soundly in his brothers arms.
Dee was so innocent and sweet. He wouldn't dream of hurting anyone. And that's what got us into this mess. Dad had never liked Dee. He hated how weak he was. Dakota wasn't planned. He was a surprise, as my mother used to say. Unfortunately, mother fell ill during the pregnancy and she had to have an emergency C section. Little Dee was 9 weeks early, and considering wolves were only pregnant for about 4-5 months, was a worrying thought. But he was a stubborn little devil and struggled through. But he was small, so small. I remember holding him for the first time. I was so scared I'd hurt him because he was so tiny that I sat as still as stone.
Week by week he got a little stronger but his development was slow. He didn't start walking until he was 2 and he wouldn't speak properly until he was almost five.
Our father didn't show much interest in his new son, despite our efforts, and when it became clear that he was weaker than us he refused to have anything to do with him.
Thankfully Dee didn't seem too bothered by it but as the years went on and he got older he began to realise that something was wrong.
'Marco, why does daddy hate me?' He'd come to me crying after dad had yelled at him for something stupid such as being in the same room. I didn't know how to respond to that so I just hugged him tight and took him to my room. We sat for hours, me Joey and Dee, just playing silly games. Both me and Joey knew from a young age that dad was never going to treat Dakota the same, so we made extra effort to make sure he was never sad. We loved our little brother and to this day we really don't understand why dad had to treat him like that.
'Marco! Joey!' I heard our father call from downstairs. Anger flushed through my body as I stood and stormed down the stairs.
I flung open his office door, startling him and his five guests. 'What the hell are you playing at!' I growled, not caring about making him look bad in front of his guests and alpha. Rage had completely took control and I wasn't going to be stopped.
'Excuse me!' He roared back, slamming his fists on the desk as he stood. He was trying to intimidate me, but it wasn't working.
'I've had enough of you beating my little brother. I've stood by and held my tongue for years because he begged us to, but not any more.' I pointed my finger at him, stepping closer. 'Your a pathetic excuse for a father and I for one am not standing for your shit any longer.'
'Marco!' A little voice squeaked behind me, stopping dad speaing.
I turned round and saw Dakota standing on shaky legs, his tiny hands clutching joeys shirt as his brother held him up.
'You! Your the cause of all this!' Father roared making his way towards Dee.
'I don't think so.' I said as I seized up to him. He stopped in his tracks and looked about ready to lash out but movement behind me caught his eye.
'I think we'll be taking our leave. I've been here for half an hour and I've seen more than enough. We are leaving and these young lads are coming with us.' I turned round and saw no other than the alpha of frozen creek standing protectively in front of my brothers, his three sons also standing behind him. His luna was standing next to Dee, wrapping a jacket round his tiny shoulders.
'Fine.' Our alpha said bored. 'I'll be glad to see the back of the runt.' And with that we were no longer apart of silver moon pack.
