"How's the boy toy?" Tyler asked Adam while they were sitting in the dugout, watching the rookies practice. The dark haired one rolled his eyes.
"He's not a boy toy. Just a friend, if that."
"Trouble in paradise?" Tyler assumed.
"No," Adam replied, "We've been talking a lot more than we had before, but I'm still his tutor. It's all business."
The brunette picked up hid water bottle from the ground and opened it, "So what, do you like him or not?" Tyler preceded to take a gulp of his drink.
"Well he- I mean he's like..."
"Super hot? Amazingly sincere? Got your gay-mometer or whatever the hell you call it going insane?"
Adam looked at him with the most confused face he had every put on, "First off, its gaydar. And I honestly don't have one. Second, yes he's very attractive, but I already said it's all business."
"Is there even a possibility for you two to become friends?" Tyler asked, feeling like giving up on pressuring his friend.
"I don't know," Adam shrugged, "He's a senior, I'm a junior. I mean, yeah we've talking a lot more and about things other than math. He told me he was gay-"
"Hold on," Tyler smiled, "He's gay?"
"Stop interrupting me," Adam sighed, "But yes, he's gay. And I told him that I am too. He didn't expect me to, but then he said that he's not good at reading people. But if you are really that concerned, yes. I do like him. A lot actually..."
Tyler felt like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. Even though he knew the information to go along with Kristen's plan, he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to go through with it. Thinking back on their date, the brown-haired boy remembered how all of the guys in his science class found out that he liked her. After weeks of pointing at Kristen, who was in the same class, and teasing Tyler, the latter finally gave in and asked her out. He never expected her to say yes, mainly because he thought she'd overthink it and back down. Alas, their first date went really well and they got together.
Tyler didn't like the peer pressure. It was like the others were putting so much responsibility and expectation on him that he had to do it. Thinking about his own experience, Tyler didn't want Adam to feel the same way. So, instead of immediately texting Kristen, he only smiled and put his hand in Adam's shoulder.
"Adam, you are strong and amazing. If he doesn't like you back, then he has his head screwed on wrong. So, I hope things turn out well."
"Thanks Ty," Adam replied, returning the grin, "It means a lot to me."
"Anything for my best friend."
The two sat there, just smiling at each other, until their coach went over to them and told them to get if the field to help the rookies at least get to first base.

"I thought you were staying after today."
Channing shook his head as he entered his house. Cheryl was sat in front of the old TV, some crime show playing on it. His grandma's fill attention was on him, which was something Channing loved about his Gram. She was loving and listened to everything he had to say.
"Forgot he has baseball," Channing admitted, "I don't know when it ends, and it might be too late."
Cheryl frowned, "Channing. All I'm asking is that you ask him before the week is up. He's done so much for you over the past month. The least you can do is ask him if he can come over for dinner."
