    ALMOST TENDERLY, Lux began to roll the thick sweatshirt up, bunching the itchy fabric just below the underwire of her bra.

She didn't focus on the sounds around her; the clicking of the old kitchen clock, the flutter of wind rushing against the latched windows- she was completely mesmerized by the dusty mirror's reflection.

It almost seemed like time slowed down around her as her fingers began clumsily slipping off the fabric, her palms dampening with anxiety.

No longer was the background sounds she barely heard before, now all she heard was the heavy rhythm of her own beating heart.

Ba-dum.

Ba-dum.

Ba-dum.

Finally, the heavy fabric of the sweatshirt was completely rolled up, allowing her eyes access to what once had been her flat stomach.

In the reflection, a rounded, rather swollen-looking abdomen stared back at her, mocking her, taunting her.

The bulge was rather prominent and would have most likely shown up in most of her clothing, especially the tight leather trousers she had unsuccessfully attempted to wrestle into the other day.
