1. The Journey

"This is the final boarding call for passenger Maya Malhotra booked on Jet Airways flight number 9W - 339 to New Delhi.

Please proceed to gate 3 immediately. "Hearing her name jolted her out of her deep thoughts.

She gathered her belongings

and started walking towards gate 3. She was booked in first class and her son had done the bookings.
Maya remembered

how excited her son had sounded when she had agreed to visit Amaaya‟s parents.

His excitement was infectious and for a second she had forgot that she had to travel to Delhi to do so, a city she detested and never wanted to visit.

And here she was, undertaking a journey not just to a city but to a phase of her life which she had long buried somewhere in

the back of her mind which she never wanted to visit again.

As the flight took off, her ears started to ring not due to air pressure but with all the voices of the ghosts of her past.

This was supposed to be a happy day for her and her son but everything that occurred twenty years ago started rolling in front of her

eyes like it happened yesterday.
