Darkness

I feel it tearing at my insides,
Part of me I have always tried to hide.
Each day I suffer as it's sharp claws prey,
If broken free no one would chose to stay.

I hide it with a smile and a laugh,
The rainbow for the storm, a mighty mask.
But still there creeps far deep inside of me,
An evil creature striving to break free.

It's one and only goal is to cause harm,
A hurricane but without the alarm.
Devouring all the light it comes by,
Filling all with darkness up to the sky.

I scream so loud the noise rings in my ears.
I scream for help but nobody can hear.
I face this creature alone in blindness,
To protect those I love from my darkness.
