No words can describe the pain at having to leave the peace, the serenity, the presence of رحمة للعالمين, the city of my beloved. No words can do justice to what the heart feels as it leaves Madinah Munawwarah. A city that breathes life into one who is dead; Madinah is magnificent, a miracle, a wonder, a gem.

Madinah-tun-Nabi...The city of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is home to me.

Oh Madinah, my heart floats along the gentlest of your breezes,

My soul rejoices as I stare, mesmerized, at the most beautiful sunrise,

A myriad of passion and love, emotions swirl, drawing tears from my eyes,

As I sit before my beloved, the beloved of the Lord most High.

How can I possibly leave as the ignorant person that arrived,

For this journey is a timeless journey that forever remains,

The meeting of a pitiful sinner with her teacher, her guide,

Begging for forgiveness from Al-Hakim, the Wise.

What greater love is there, than the love that binds me to him?

Passionate, ardent, filling the gaps between a 1000 years,

Will that love be enough, can it be my hope?

Hope in the mercy of my Rabb and holding on to His rope.

To stand before HabibAllah, Mustafa, and cry out in pain

For your Sunnah I've left, how will Jannah be attained?

So beautifully simple; a kind word, a coin, a smile a day,

Nothing less than Paradise for so easy a way.

Oh Allah, guide me, strengthen me, make me worthy to be

In his city, his presence, in his blessed company.

Your beloved is mine, his city has stolen my heart,

Bring me back Rabby, only never to part.
