Dakota's POV
I never thought I would see so much blue in my life.
I'm sitting outside the protruding deck of the cabin. Room service brought in what seemed like a breakfast buffet from so many countries. "Gifts from the company" is what Conrad called it.
We ate in bed, although it was mostly me eating and him running around the room trying to get ready. Seeing him all flustered and muttering to himself made me frustrated.
"What's the point of coming to Bora Bora if all you're going to do is work?"
"Hmm?" He replied without even looking at me.
And so I rolled my eyes and got out of bed and brought my mimosa with me outside.
I've spent the rest of the morning just admiring the view and enjoying how quiet and graceful it is here.
"Hey," I hear a soft voice say.
I turn my head and see Jamie leaning against the entrance. I raise my eyebrow, "How did you get in here?"
"Conrad left the door open on his way out," he says, pointing towards the door behind him. "He seemed like he was in a hurry."
I huff and turn back around to face the sea. "He has this big meeting today."
"And you're pretty bummed about it."
I face him again and notice that he's looking down at his hands. I don't say anything until he finally looks up and me and then I just shrug.
He smiles and then begins to speak again, "If you still want, we can go hiking around the island? Seems like Paul and Emily are ready for us."
I lift myself off the chair and make my way past him and into the room. "Let me just change real quick."
-----------------------------------
"I quit!"
I roll my eyes and laugh as I follow Emily up yet another trail filled with high rocks.
"I'm serious! I was expecting more flat ground and less mountain climbing!"
I turn around and see Paul huffing and puffing behind Jamie. His face is shiny from sweat and red from the heat. "You can't quit! You'll get lost if you try to go back without us."
"Then I want Jamie to carry me from now on," he states.
"You're such a wimp, mate," Jamie tells him while me and Emily laugh loudly.
We have been hiking for what seems like an hour and we've sort of drifted away from the main trail due to Emily's curiosity. Nothing but tall green wet trees surrounded us as we pushed against large leaves that could wrap around my whole body. The whole environment had an Amazonian vibe to it.
"Oh, this is going to be fun," I hear Emily say. She has paused on top of the rocky climb and is smirking down at us. I furrow my eyebrows and finally reach her and look out to what she's referring to.
I feel my eyes go wide as I'm met with a long wooden and narrow bridge that seems to be holding on together by just mere thick vine. It sways back and forth from the wind but just barely, only if you pay close attention to it.
I face Emily and smile widely as I know exactly what she's thinking. She nods back as in reading my mind and then looks behind me to watch the guys' reaction.
"Whoa," Jamie chuckles as he pulls his backpack off.
"Mhmm. Well, guess I'll be getting lost without ya!" Paul says and makes to go back down before Jamie grabs a hold of his shoulder and pulls him back.
