Nobody POV
Damon is standing around the unconscious bodies of Alexa, Stefan and Caroline and the near-dead bodies of Matt and Bonnie. He looks around to realize that he is in fact in the real world

"No" he said

He walks over to Matt, who is also laying on the floor unconscious

"Donovan. Hey, wake up" he said worriedly and bites his wrist and puts it to Matt's mouth to heal him "You do not get to die. Donovan, drink" he said frantically

As Matt wakes up, Damon pulls back his wrist and looks over at Bonnie, who is still sitting on the floor with her back to the wall

"Bon" he said and makes his way over to her, bites his wrist, and puts it to her mouth "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" he said

Once she starts to cough he pulls back his wrist and looks over at Alexa, who is also still sitting on the floor with her back to the wall, a large bloody smear above her from where her head slammed into it

"Alexa" he said worriedly and makes his way to her trying to wake her up "Oh my god, Alexa, Alexa I'm so sorry" he said frantically and hears a human heartbeat making him sigh relieved that his daugther is alive and okay "Alexa, I'm so sorry" he said

She slowly wakes up "I didn't know where I was. I didn't know I was out--" he's cut off

Just then, Caroline stakes Damon in the back and knocks him out. Alexa is shocked by just happened

"Are you okay?" Caroline asked her concerned and worried

"Yeah I'm fine, but are you okay?" she said concerned

"Yeah" she said shocked about what was going on before and they look at Damon's unconscious body

Damon wakes up chained to the railing of the staircase by his wrists

"Ohh" he said and looks up at his chains and sighs "Oh, yup. I saw this coming" he said

Damon POV
I'm chained to the railing of the staircase by my wrists

"Stefan" I said and continues to call from the hallway "Stefan" I said

"Yeah. Yeah I heard you" he said

He walks into hallway "No vervain this time? We switching up the menu?" I said being unnerved by how calmly he is acting

"Nah, I just wanted to make sure you had a chance to calm down" he said

"Oh, I'm calm" I said

When he remains silent, I become confused "No, no, no. You're gonna say to me. You're gonna say to me, I screwed up so bad. I nearly killed all of our friends because I thought I was stuck in a fake hell-world" I said

His face is grim, but it's clear he's sympathetic  "You don't have to explain. It wasn't your fault" he said

I'm completely confused and stunned by this uncharacteristic reaction "Huh?" I said

"It was an honest mistake. You're getting a pass" he said

I'm still confused, thinking he is playing a joke on me "Wait. You skipped a bunch of stuff. First, I'm supposed to say I see the error of my ways, and then you tell me that that's not good enough, and then you judge me harder. And then I say something mean, but true, that totally throws you off balance" I said

He  kneels down in front of me so he can look me in the eye "You came out of the phoenix stone but you thought you were still inside of it. Everybody understands" he said
