Do I have to wake up today? Is it necessary?
Yes Jaydene.. Yes it is
Yeah whatever.
"Wake up. " Mom says.
"I'm up." I reply. I get out of bed, switch the heater on and walk out of my bedroom.
Wow. Check it out.
Maria check it out. Mom is wearing make up and she has her "professional clothes" on.
Yeah I see that. She looks stunning.
I greet her and I walk past her and I enter the bathroom. Like usual I turn the faucets and block the drain.
While waiting for the water to fill the bathtub I wash my teeth.I don't want to lie to you, but my mother.
That women is the QUEEN.
She really is.
There is nothing and no one to bring her down. She's like Cinderella , rags and old items of clothing don't hide her beauty. She's 100% beauty, make up and everything. Like SUPERWOMAN. Or even better
My mother is not your typical black single woman raising three kids.
Her story fascinates me. She got my big brother when she was seventeen with my father, but she was finished with school. Apparently her senior year was the worst, she had to go to school pregnant or not... Later that year on the second of October she then had my brother. Soon after his birth my mother and father broke up and my mother began building a life for herself. My grandparents never disowned her, they accepted her mistakes even though they weren't in favour of it. Anyway, it turns out that my mother graduated from StudyWell College after studying there for three years and jumped back into my father's arms, the minute he told her that he wanted her back. Then she had me .She didn't work for two more years . My father took care of us and my mother was still busy with her law degree which she was partly studying while at beauty school. We lived together with both parents until my younger brother Andy was born. Our father walked out of our lives, but kept a typical weird black relationship with us. From then. My mother got herself and her kids a house wait... a home. And we grew up from a lifestyle, which she says that she could've had.
After brushing my teeth, the tub water is already full to my satisfaction and I begin undressing myself.
Hot.
But soothing.
I take a bath.
I wake up two hours before I have to leave. So I'm spoiling myself with a thirty minute (30min) hot bath today.
After that I have to wake my younger brother, Andy up.
● an hour later ●
Both my brother and I are done bathing/ preparing ourselves for school.
In 45 minutes or so. Our transports would be here and we would be off to school, but for now Andy''s got me laughing my head off. While he's cracking jokes."You people are making a lot of noise. I'm trying to sleep. Just because you're up, it doesn't mean the rest of the house has to be. " Sello protests.
"Sorry. " Andy returns.
We both giggle.
Sorry I forgot to mention that I have an older brother as well. Sello, he's nineteen and just finished his senior grade (matric), like, last year. He's supposed to be doing his first year at Varsity or College now... but here he is. I wonder how life is, when you out of school. I sure can't wait for it.
