"ELOTES! MAMI ME COPRAS UN ELOTE??POR FAVOR PLEEEAASEE???"

Growing up, one of the most vivid memories I have is waiting for the elotera or elotero to pass by usally around 4 pm just thinking about it now makes my mouth water. I used to call one of the elotera my friend since I used to wait for her so I could buy an elote, chicharrones or a raspando from her. I remember always buying an elote con todo y mucho chille or I would get a raspado de fresa. I remember having to order for my little sister and brother

"Buenas tardes me da 2 elotes todo pero sin chille y 3 con todos por favor?"

This is the beauty of LA even though at times the city would come and take away thier carts, the eloteros made our day when we would hear their horn. When I used to live in Bell Gardens my mom would take us the Veteran park and we would play until sunset and she would always buy us our elote I remember being a dollar. I remember when it went up my mom didn't want to but elotes anymore she thought it was expensive slowly the price kept increasing today un elote is $2.50. Even as time passed the eloteros don't use a cart no more alot use a van. I'm kinda sad that it went up now a days it's rare when we buy an elote. To top that off they have stores now that sell all kinda of Mexican street foods oh how I miss the old days. Every where around Los Angeles you will Eloteros, since I have moved I don't hear them, it saddens me I don't have Eloteros around me
