What the frick is this thing doing in the middle of your chapter
Sometimes I'm reading a fic and it gets to a cliffhanger or a time swap and usually there will be three dots like this:

this makes sense, it's clean, simple, and doesn't distract the readers from the actual writing.
but then, there are some people who decide to put this:

please skip doing these things if you want to be taken seriously. of course sometimes it isn't anything too big of a deal, but I have not once read a fic I absolutely loved and thought was a beautiful piece of literature and included silly examples like those.
Sometimes all you need to improve your book is a simple revision :)
(Also I frick you not, you may or may not be familiar with this story but I remember a fic where the only!!! food this girl would eat was this specific dish of pasta. And no matter where she went, she only ate that. How?? What? Who the frickedly frick has the right ingredients to make that for you at breakfast time or for you to make it yourself in the middle of the night. I understand that if you ate it often enough, it could make sense, but if you're going to mention a person eating a lot in your fic- at least vary it a little. Eat some raw sewage or some ice once in a while. Go crazy. jUST WHY WOULD YOU EAT THE SAME DISH 10 DAYS IN A ROW AS YOUR ONLY MEAL)
