I WAS ON my way home from training when I saw Kakashi-Sensei walking my way, his Icha Icha book in hand. "Hi, Kakashi-Sensei," I said as I stopped next him.
He stopped and turned his head to look at me. "Hello, Izumi," he said. "I'm assuming you're on your way to the Hyuga compound, right?" I raised an eyebrow at his question. "Why would I be going to the Hyuga mansion?" I asked. Pretty much copying my expression, the copycat raised an eyebrow questionably. "Today's Neji's birthday," he replied. "You out of all people should know." My eyes widened.
A few moments of silence passed before I suddenly ran off, leaving Kakashi-Sensei. "I forgot! I need to get him a present!" I said as I sprinted away.

That evening, I... got the present, and I began walking towards Neji's home with an uncharacteristic grin on my face. When I got to the front door, I knocked. A few seconds later, I saw Hiashi standing in front of me with his usual stern expression.
"Hello, sir," I said politely. "May I speak with Neji?" He smiled a little and nodded. "Neji! Your friend is here to see you!" he called out behind him. A few moments later, Hiashi left, and there before me stood a smiling Neji.
'His smile means everything to me. I'll do anything to protect it,' I thought as a smile of my own formed.
"Hello, Izumi," Neji said.
"Hi, Neji-kun." I felt my cheeks heat up as I said it so naturally.
'It could be the sunset lighting, but Neji's cheeks look kinda pink,' I thought. 'But dear Kami! Why did I add the honorific!? I usually just call him Neji. Now I look like an idiot!'
Neji's eyes were wide, but he shook his head slightly and spoke. "What brings you here?" he asked. I chuckled in response. "Uh, its your birthday, so of course I'm going to do something special for you," I said with a closed-eyes smile. He laughed a little, and I smiled at the sight.
"Like what?" he asked, a hint of curiosity laced in his voice.
That was when I did it. I didn't even stop to take a breath before I got on my tiptoes, gathered all my courage, and gave him a light kiss on the lips. "T-There ya go," I muttered after I pulled away, taking a small step back as I did so. I furrowed my brow and looked down at the ground.
'Kami! I stuttered again!' I thought as a felt a rush of anxiety run through me. 'Maybe I should've just taken him out for ramen instead. He probably feels awkward now. He's gonna friend zone me now for sure! Damn! He needs to stop making me feel this way, that idiot!'
I looked back up at him with a pained expression. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. His cheeks were red too, but that was probably only because it was all so sudden and he just simply felt flustered.
Just as I was about to apologize for my abrupt actions, I felt a warm hand on mine. I raised an eyebrow. However, before I could say anything, Neji leaned forward and nibbled at my left ear, causing shivers to roll down my spine as I blushed like crazy.
"I'll need a little more than that~" he whispered seductively, his voice husky.
Then, he carried her bridal style into the house and to his bedroom.
