Broken Wings

Dare not rest your head on my shoulder, little angel
These dagger-like claws may destroy your snowy plumage
You mustn't attempt to visit me in my flaming home of hell
For your halo, a crown of innocence, may suffer severe damage

I was once like you, untainted and magnificently pure
Roaming in the city of gold and pearls was a daily routine
But an epidemic executed my heart and it lacked a cure
So here I have fallen, loathing my creator, so pristine

How foolish of you to avoid my helpful warnings
You approach my demonic face so close and steady
Fearless of looking into my lifeless eyes that are burning
To be consumed by darkness, I assume you are ready

But you suddenly proved my assumption to be false
Bright lips of yours softly pressed against mine
You vowed to cherish my unwanted self despite all
Though contained in despair, your heart still shines

Unlike your wings, mine have been flightless for eons
I admit I deeply envied your capability to ascend
You must be able to soar the infinite universe and beyond
Listen to my command, leave me in the flames to descend

A drop of blood fell after each feather you plucked
Onto my back you stitched each weightless piece
You assured that our collision was never sheer luck
Saying that I needed a second opportunity for peace

Before I flapped my wings, I carried you in my arms
Tears streamed down your scarlet blushed cheeks
Unstable is the repair for two, you said it may inflict harm
You whispered, "Happiness, alone you now must seek."

Stubbornly ignoring your words, I forcefully take flight
Pieces of plumage started to detach rapidly
You pushed me away to release you in this great height
I lately extended my hand, but you bid me farewell happily

Sleep in my embrace, little angel of mine
A curse had cruelly forbidden us to fly together
My dagger-like claws caress your beauty, so divine
Forgive me, for I shall stay with you in this fiery pit forever
